2004 RC Front bumper cover

My o4 has some damage by prior owner and looking to find a new one, front bumper cover, red. Where to find and how much. or can they be fixed?

any info would be great.

Depends on the damage. MIne had a gouge on the lower lip, but body shop was able to fix it. As far as an OEM replacement, good luck and cover your sack;). I know Cervini's as an aftermarket makes/made them, might give that a try. Hope this helps.

haha... yeah, who is that guy:dontknow:

they're under $300 or so from any dealer...

or you can go through your vendor or company of choice, they might be able to get a few bucks more off...

but how bad is the damage? you'd be surprised what can be fixed...
 
Several cracks on top edge in front of light, looks that if they bumped into a wall or post.
With these covers being abs or what ever, I was concerned on using filler, thinking it would pop out.
another thing with the bumper or any plastic, the colors do not look the same as the metal parts. orange/red to red. Is it just the lighting?

it's probably sun fading... my whole truck looks different.. the metal fades at different intervals than the plastic...

check your grill shell, it's fiberglass, the hood is metal and the bumper and side skirts are abs, or poly, or whatever they are, lol... all 3 of those will fade differently... and red is one of the worst, if not the worst color to start fading...

only way to fix it is to repaint it...

you can use flexible filler, so depending on the damage, it may be fixable...

PR4 is expensive paint, so you'll be in it for at least $500 say $250-300 for the bumper and another $200 or so to base and clear it... but it may only cost you an extra $100 to repair the bumper...

see the side skirts? this side of the truck has never been painted...it doesn't look bad in the sun, in fact it's hardly noticeable...but under certain lights you can REALLY tell the difference...
 
Actually it's not from fading at all! It does have to do with the different materials though. Usually bumpers and such are not painted at the same time as the truck body itself. Therefore allowing different variables to take place to change the actual shade of color.
Humidity
Ambient Temperature
Temp of part being painted
Flex agents used in ABS or composite parts

The exact same paint from the same batch painted on the same day, and on the the same parts sprayed in different parts of the country will yield several different results in shades. All will still blend enough with body it doesn't matter, but look at any new car other than black and see the difference.
Metallic colors are far more prone to appearing different as well as Reds/Oranges.
You also have to consider the source of light and at what angle the light is hitting the subjects in view. Your body sides are contoured much differently than the cladding ( ground effects) attached to them. Therefore reflecting the light differently although basically the exact same color.

some of what you said is true... but red paint fades... it's fact... red paint actually turns darker red as it fades...

sun exposure to almost anything will cause it to fade.

when i first bought my truck, it didn't look like that... regardless of where the parts are painted, if they all look the same to the eye on delivery... years later the colors will change... and it's more evident on vehicles left outside (for obvious reasons)

this is a pic i just took of my hood... this hood has never been repainted, only cleared... when i removed the badges for clearing, this is what was left under the badges... same on the door too... it's a poor pic and looks very prominent to the human eye, but the phone didn't depict it well... either way, you can clearly see it... 7 years of sunlight on the hood, and the original color underneath... people ask me if i had them "ghosted"... no... it's a custom fade :D

the dealer just quoted me $404 for the cover (5030101AB) and $138 for the hood liner (55350891AC). I think I will try to fix myself and if I fail I'll buy one.
