2005 vs 2006

Thanks for your replies. I live in Australia & don't have the option to check them out myself. your opinions are extremely valiable to me. I do like the fact that the 05 is a six seater but them I believe the 06 has improved suspension amongst other things. Do they drive the same?
I think i am leaning towards the 06 for resale. I know that resale in USA for the srt's is crap but here in aus they fetch high prices, for example i have my fully loaded 05 qc 1500 5.9 with mods up for sale for $73k & have had heaps of interrest. theres not many over here.
Having said that, by the time i buy an srt, ship it, convert it & comply it for aus standards it will owe me something like $90k but i love the srt-10's & i dont care how much they cost, im getin one

sorry my ram is an 02 not an 05 as stated in last message. $73k it's probably unbelievable to you guys but thats how it is

my 05 has cup holders and a clock so don't know what you have kevan no heated seats though. but on same end i didn't get nav unit was figuring to put an after market one in anyways
I have two holes on both sides of my shifter that are cup SPILLERS. They certainly don't HOLD anything.
Of any shape.
At all.

The digits on my G-Shock watch are bigger than the default digits on the RB4 nav/stereo (comparison pics available upon request).
It's's just plain sad on a $50K truck- that the rest of the unit is so awesome and functional, but they can't get the damn clock right.

IMO i think the 06 has better interior and hell you cant beat inferno red.

I like the 04/05 black interiors...and the seats in the 05s are much more comfortable..for my fat ass anyway...the 05 seats are wider...and Inferno red is easy to beat...my wife's Durango is inferno and I have no problem taking it...:dontknow: ;)

06 is 2/5 passenger and 05 is 3/6 passenger

Parts are harder to come by for 06

Parts are more expensive for 06

04 and 05 trucks have easy bolt on exhausts, lowering kits, shocks and other items that the 06 trucks must be altered to make work

I have an 06 QC and I have driven an 05 also. If you are planning to do a lot of mods to the truck, I strongly suggest an 05. If you want the better factory stock truck, I think it is the 06. I can't speak for the 04 or 05's but my interior looks as good as it did on day one. I have 9,000 miles on it now. I can tell that this interior will look brand new for a lot longer than any other vehicle I am aware of. Dodge really made this interior well for longevity.

I also would not buy an 04 because they were the first year model and I never buy first year models of anything. Last, I am pretty sure the 06's will always be more valuable because of the limited production numbers. When you add together the production numbers of the 04's and 05's (since they are essentially the same) and compare to the 06's, the difference is massive. 06's are very rare in comparison. I think the CE's and Yellow Fevers will be worth a lot too because of the limited production. Personally if I were going to buy a RC it would be an '05 CE because I love the color combo and I think they will hold value well and mods will easily bolt on. QC, I would go with an 06. Then again, that is exactly what I did. One more thing, the 06 headlights and tail lights can be swapped with the 08's and that is all that has changed with the Dodge trucks since 06 so people who don't know could be fooled into thinking you're driving an 08. So you could make an 06 look like an 08 easily even though they don't exist.

might be just me, but i dont have any prob seeing my clock. the nav in my 10 is ok. the cup holders are lacking. sorry about the earlier post refering to the latch on the cup holder, guess i was thinking bout the daytona ram. but, i felt lucky to get my 10 (no matter the year), so i jumped on it.

I keep hearing this but dont understand...I have had no problem getting parts for my 06....and I have bought a lot of mods....yes, the exhaust had to be modified to fit but it took less than 3 minutes with a torch,,,:dontknow:

For a guy like me that is not so handy, using a torch is not gonna happen. The Magna Flow cat backs don't fit the 06, the lowering kits are a problem on the 06's, and the shocks vendors sell have mounting holes that are too large for the 06. The magna flow is the exhaust I would choose if they were bolt ons but they aren't for an 06. I would love the X-Metal lowering kit but it doesn't work properly on the 06 QC. I need a new front bumper cover and it costs more than double for an 06 compared to the 04/05. Those are the specific aftermarket parts I know of that are an issue on the 06's. Many aftermarket parts are not even available for the 06 for some reason.

I have to disagree to a point with you. I had my magnaflows installed at a local muffler shop and it took a few minutes to relocate 2 hangers. That was it... Cant speak for the lowering kits since I have not done one, but I do have rear lowering blocks that work just like 04-05. As far as aftermarket parts, bodywise aside from the front fascia, any 06 parts will should work. The interior is different but not much. I also just upgraded my brake pads from zeckhausen and they are the same for 05 & 06.

There has not been one aftermarket part I have wanted that could not be found thus far. Even Justin makes the engine dress up kits now. IMHO, I like the look of the 04-05's exterior a bit more, but the interior of the 06 to me is very updated and cool.

06 has the tonneau cover with the wing and center support included. That is a major bonus right off the bat to me. 06 color options are awesome as well.

Picked the '05 over the '06 because my dog needed somewhere to sit other than in my wife's lap in the passenger seat. ;)

I have an 06 RC and I chose it because of it's rarity, but mostly because of the interior. Specifically the shifter. The shifter is smaller and shorter, and I just think it looks better. I also like the headlights more.

I never drove a 04 or 05 but as for the ride quality of my 06, it's very tight. The steering is incredibly responsive too.

I looked at an 05 QC when I bought my truck, but IMO the 06 RC won in the looks department hands-down. I still wish I would have test drove the QC though, just for comparison purposes.

IIRC, it's the same shifter, but the center console in the 06 gives the impression of a "shorter" shifter.

Same goes for the 04 and 05 RC, both of which I've driven.
Hard.

Do you mean it's the same length as the 05 and 04? It really looks like the shifter itself is smaller. I know the throw is just as long though.

Does it say "HURST" on the side?
