Question for some of you out there that may have installed a rear Beltech 1" drop shackle or equivalent on a 2006 QC. I installed them last night and today when I hit a few pot holes and the spring depressed I heard it clank. After more investigation I noticed there is only a 1/8" space between the outer shackle and the mounting perch. So if the spring moves much it will hit the perch. The one pic shows that my pinky finger will not even fit between the shackle and the mounting perch. I am worried if I hooked up my boat the shackle will be rubbing on the mounting perch which is not good. Because I tow I will probably go back to the stock shackles so I don't have any problems. Look at these pics and has anyone has seen this and is it normal?

Thanks!

I am getting the 2" installed next week with Beltech swaybar hope they can resolve you issue for you.

Let me know how the install comes out. I sent a Beltech technician these same pics tonight and he will contact me on Wednesday. After looking at this 1" shackle I am not sure how the 2" is going to be any better. Are you installing on a RC or QC?

Thanks!

I am having a shop do the install . place was recommended by another member I meet at dyno day he has this set up on his Q/C and told me it handles better and can still cary a load in the bed . this will be going on the Q/C price installed is $480.00.
Cheers J.T.

Make sure you get pics out of how it looks!:)

I am curious if this might be a less costly solution to my lowering desires!:D

PUT ONE ON MY 05 QC.HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL.
ANY DIFF FROM 05,TO 06??

The frame is different on the 06 models compared to 05 so that could be the case. You went with Beltech correct or was it Ground Force?

Thanks!

BELLTECH, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL:rock:

If you installed them yourself is the open part of the shackle facing toward the front of the truck or open toward the rear? The directions did not specify but I installed them just like the OEM shackles which had the open part toward the front?

Thanks!

I am an idiot...I called Beltech and they confirmed I had them installed backwards. The enclosed instructions do not mention which way to install them meaning the open part of the shackle towards the front or rear. So I installed them just like the OEM shackles wich is the open part of the shackle toward the front. With the Beltechs you have to install them opposite of the OEM shackles. On the one side of the shackle they have notches cut out of the shackle which allows it to clear the mounting perch and if you install them backwards there is no notch and it will tap the perch if you hit a bump in the road. All is well now and with just a 1" drop I think the truck looks alot better. I could not go lower because I tow and don't want to bottom out under load. Beltech said they looked at the directions and confirmed they are not clear so they are going to make new/revised instructions with all the new kits to help avoid this problem. I guess I was the first person to do it backwards or the first person to call and let them know:dontknow: ...LOL.

Thanks!
