2007 Ford Shelby GT500 priced at $43,000

The 500 hp 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 coupe will cost $42,975, including a $1,300 gas-guzzler tax and $745 destination charge, according to a published report. Meanwhile, the convertible version will cost $47,800, said Ford spokesman Jim Cain. Cain told Edmunds the car will be available by July at the latest. In mid-May, Ford adjusted its official pricing estimate to “under $50,000â€￾ from under $40,000. Around the same time, we also reported that many Ford dealers were set to rake in as much as $25,000 over the suggested retail price for the Shelby GT500 Mustang. Earlier this week, we noted the first real-world performance numbers for the car.

25k over sticker? I want some of whatever they've been smoking. That is over 50% of the sticker of the car. No way in hell I would do that, talk about losing value on driving off the lot, how about losing a quick 35k????

There will be those that will pay it. The dealers did it to the T-Bird and in my opinion that is a big part of the reason that they ended up cancelling the production run.

For the simple fact that it has Carol Shelby's name on it, people will spend $25K over sticker, EASY... Once upon a time, I ran with the Ford Crowd (Please refraine from throwing rotten fruit and small children at me)... But these people will pay almost anything to have a piece of what they believe is Shelby history. I wouldn't be surprised to see them going for even more!!!

However, if they did stay at MSRP... $40K is pretty damn cheap to have a decently lightweight (as compared to my 5300 pound truck) vehicle with 500 horses under the hood.

they are slated to make 10-15,000 per year for at least 3 years. Just wait they will discount them, everyone who wants one will be able to buy one.

I thought S-R-T stood for Shelby Ram Truck. THese will not be worth anything then.

Nothing new, DC did the same thing with the PT Cruser, I couldn't believe what prople around here were paying for this car :dontknow: just didn't get, The Prowler same deal, but that was an awsome lookig car.

Just not to surprised when it comes to anything mustang

25k is way over the top though. I remember when they were getting 10k over for our trucks, right around the time I got one for sticker. I also saw them asking 15k over for the C6, but both of those numbers are way smaller than the 25 in terms of percentage. Especially since they will be putting these out like crackerjacks, there will be no shortage of available cars in the not too distant future I would bet. I mean look at our trucks, they are practically giving them away now.

But that is the trend, look at the Charger, soon to be the Challenger, put out a few, people will pay the big buck and when the I'll pay anything crowd sales start to drop, flood the market.

XBox, PSP, PS2, Microsoft, etc.... have been doing it for a long time. Get used to it

:hmmmm: I thought it to be more along the lines of Super Racing Technology...

Anyway, I would certainly wait for the second or third production year before scooping one up. I'd have to see if it turned out to be a gem after all.

It has Shelby's name on it though.... I'm telling ya, 25K over sticker is to be expected...

They ALL do it when they think they've got something extra special.

I've been poking aroung on Autotrader.com for prices on the new ZO6. In my area I've seen quite a few at $85K! And a few of them are actually USED CARS with a few hundred miles on them!!:dontknow:

Car stealers can suck. It can be hard to find the good ones.

Just got my new Motor Trend and the GT500 is the cover story.

They managed an 'impressive' 12.7:rolleyes: , but the MPH was 116! So I guess that works out about right for a 4,000 car (Figure our trucks have 500hp and generally run about ~106'ish mph stock).

If it'll hook (Read: slicks, and probably a set of more aggressive gears), it's an 11 second ride...:D Plus, as with every other Ford S/C'd mod motor, safe to say it's got TONZ more power left in it!!

For the cash, I'd still rather have a C5 ZO6, but that's just me.:)

I would have to agree... but you have to get into the mind of the idiot Ford guys... hell, look at the L guys!!! Carol Shelby is a GOD to them, not to take anything away from the amazing man that he is... I mean, he did help create the Viper!!!

Its a great looking car but jeez, I see Mustangs all dam day long!!! Obviously not Shelby ones, but this dude isnt shelling out any $ over sticker for one of those. For that matter I wouldnt even pay sticker. I would rather have my truck.

Challenger looks way cooler to me.

I've been somewhat sort of kickin around the idea of picking one up at the end of the year or next year and whoring it out, but that's a lot of coin to whore out. (First thing would be the GT's 5.4 Aluminum Block swapped in, fix some of the shit weight distribution, and kick the fuggin 37lb stock wheels the f off for some CCW's, get the 3.3L Whipple Upgrade, H-beams, Up the boooost.)

The hype is backin down a bit, seein the latest mag. numbers (as silly as that sounds) dissapointed, but the crazy sumbitches are fetching $15k over sticker!!! ($10k ADM is the 'national average' according to John Some Bullshit at whothefuckknows), and in some cases, Ive heard of dealers turning down $25k ADMs, for highest auction.

Seeing as any ford dealer that chooses to take a class, and pay $1500 are allowed to sell them, as opposed to the few hundred SVT dealerships (which would usually receive the entire bulk of all SVT products, meaning they would have 4-6 in stock once production ramped) that usually would. It's gonna be stretched pretty thin for the first 6 mos or so, some dealers only qualified to get one or two have sworn to sit on them, until they get what they want. (avg is 2-3 per year, not in all cases tho)

Ford is killing itself. It is taking their most loyal customers, and instead of rallying them around a new flagship, they feel thevye been slaped in the face and sold out. Many people that have bought generations of Ford's from their dealerships, are being bumped 'out of line' when the dealer backs out to put it up for high bid, or ask $10-15k over. Many are pretty pissed. Should be interesting to see how this all shakes out for them. As for me, if I am unable to find one for UNDER MSRP late this year or in '08, I wont be buying one. It's a Ford. And a Mustang. My limit for that car would be right at ~$42k (would have gone $45k had they made it perhaps ~3300-3400lbs, or kept it same weight as 03/04's) After taxes, this will be a $47.3k car out the door (varying), BEFORE DEALER MARKUP. Unreal. Not worth it to me, but we'll see. As for the drivetrain, I see it's potentail, and it makes my teeth sweat. As for the rest of the car/mat'ls/weight; subpar. I reckon I could work on that, but how far does the new SN197 design go from its current state before turning to crap. :dontknow:

I think Ford's crazy pricing it there. Many of the 03/04 owners are jumping ship and going to the C6. Pretty wild to see. Loyalists jumping. As of now with rebates, you can pick up a C6 Z-51 in some areas for $40,399, and a non-Z51, but with Mag. ride suspension for in the $39,xxx's.
