Detroit 2008: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V revealed with 550 HP
Posted Jan 8th 2008 3:25PM by Sam Abuelsamid

Our friends over at Jalopnik say the CTS-V is officially fair game now, so here we go. Now that the second generation Cadillac CTS is on the streets and garnering largely positive reviews for its looks, performance and handling dynamics, the time has come to turn it up a notch. The 2008 Detroit Auto Show will bring us the second generation high-performance CTS-V model. Just as the original 2004 version used an engine derived from the top Corvette of the time, so too does the new model. The 2009 CTS-V leap-frogs its chief competitor - the BMW M5 - with GM's new LSA V8 derived from the LS9 in the Corvette ZR1.

The goal of the CTS-V development team was to create a car with the poise and sophistication of the best luxury sedans melded with the outstanding performance of a high sports car. To achieve that they installed the supercharged 6.2L V-8 with an output of 550 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque into a heavily upgraded chassis and then went about dressing up both the interior and exterior to match. Read all about the new CTS-V after the jump.

Looks like a great ride! Sadly, it'll probably depreciate 20+K the first year...:dontknow:

It's too bad they put such wonderful power plants in such pieces of shit these days.... :( (I'm not saying the CTS is a POS as much as I'm saying MOST new vehicles are POS these days.... They don't make 'em like they used too... :( I want my "slow" 2002 M5 back. :( :( )

That would be a GM I would own!!!! suuuuweeet!! Whatta think $$$$$$
Gotta be 70k+ ????

leapfrog the M5... LOL... in power only... the M5 is a naturally aspirated 507<and they did it with a block 1 liter smaller>... sure it lacks on torque... but it's got plenty of power

The engineering in the BMW will far exceed that put into the cadi.. that pretty much goes without saying.. it's just a given...

Sorry GM you're also WAY late on the game... the late model M5 has been around since 2006<which means released in 05>... you're releasing this in late 08?? pffft... 3 years later??

you can buy a base M5 for ~82K and nicely loaded one for 97k... I'm not sure why anyone would spend ~70K+ on this thing...

then again I'm the bastard that doesn't understand why some of you guys spend 90k on the vipers either :p

I'd rather drive a 50K evo than drive the cts-v :D

and P.S.... Annu... no offense... but u want EVERYTHING :p lolol

Cuz I got mine for 70 new.

And it's the most raw, meanest, baddest-ass new car being built these days of course.

I was just reading up on the CTS-V the other day and a few folks said they could not hear any whine from the supercharger nor any visual clues such as a heat exchanger. Guess most were fooled a bit on this one.

So you are into self mutilation?:dontknow::confused:;):p

You know Bandit, you can say what you want about the Cadi, and you can PooPoo the fact that GM got in the game late, but I think it's great to see them get in the game!!

People don't realize how much of an impact the "Real Big 3" have on the US economy. It is essential that they continue to compete in the market, and that means in all corners of the market. I am glad that there are people that will buy this CTS-V over a BMW because it is a product of the USA!! It is vital that GM continue to compete, and hopefully one day gain advantage and a larger market share in foreign trade as well.

Oh, and that's a pretty cool Cadi!!!:rock::rock:
