2012 Tesla S

Ye of limited view...if no one ever tried a model T, we probably would still be on horses.

The process is called development. In a capitalistic system it is critical that "early adopters" engage with manufacturers so that the demands of the market can mold the technology of the future.

If no one ever bought a flash light battery, where would battery production be today?

If no one ever tried the concept of commercial airliners what would have happened to the industry?

I made no claims of green, I do love innovation and entrepreneurs, and I think that supporting of concepts that have possibilities is one of the responsibilities of those who understand the research and development process.

Sheesh!
i think the model T had more marketablity(sp) since it was aimed at the general public. The tesla to start with has a very limited market and then you throw in the eletric motor and even less people are going to want one. I think a 4 door hatch would appeal to more people, then use the money from that to come up with a low volume sports car.

quite true. i think the nissan/datsun leaf has better marketing potential then the stupid tesla. come on, laptop battery's?

the sedan appears to have a target market of people that drive BMW's, Jags, or a Benz... I'd say they are well on their way with that kind of price, just gotta make sure the features match up to that level of luxury.

Will this be able to stop better than a Prius?:p

.

Id sure hope that with all these drive by wire systems they would put in a function that the brake pedal would "disconnect" the throttle. Kinda like when you have the cruise set and tap the brake, it releases the cruise. It would prevent any electric car from doing a burnout, but why would you waste the batteries on that??? Thats what gasoline and cable throttles are for!

FAIL!!!

Its not that it was a bad idea then, it was that the battery technology/capacity did not exist to power them more than a mile or two. And thats when all they had to run was the motor to propel the vehicle, now they have to run all the other electronic gizmos and gadgets in the cars of today. Plus the electric motors back then were surely not as efficient as todays electric motors.
I would guess that the batteries were better but they did do this along time ago me sayin it was a bad idea was my opinion...and who are you to call my post a fail...:dontknow: :dontknow: :stupid: :bootyshake:

Tesla is supposed to build a plant in Rio Ranco, NM to help start producing these cars if the grant money ever comes around!
