HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all!!
Well I had fun ... never noticed anything wasnt right with the Dakota till a few days ago and realized both front speakers werent working .. the system sounded decent since I bought it but i think only with the rear speakers on hahahaha ! Imdecided to dig into my old high end stereo parts from 30 years ago and decided to install 2 fmthe 6.5 Altecs in the truck .. Wow ! The truck never sounded like it does now hahaha , DUH ! I even have connections already on the door to add more speakers .. funny dodge just wired it and left it lol .. I test them with anther old emmerson and it worked ... Dodge didnt cut a place in the door to bolt them in ... so decided to not add them .. heck even had a neighbor tell me it sounds great hahahaha ( non BOD member ofcourse )
Damn If I installed all the sytem I have ,,, OH BOY WOULD THAT BE FUNNY .... the parts I have I took out of my old conversion van 30 years ago ,,, they are basically brand new ... The Dakota s now part of the high end stereo club hahahaha ? Hmm maybe a few boomers to rattle peoples windows next lol

Awesome! And they are almost era correct for the Dakota. Saving old stuff pays off and saves lots o Money
I can tell you Altec was big and the speakers I just installed from the past are better than whats in the 10's and most cars I been in over decades .. they wouldnt compete with the others and thats what destroyed them . Then they stopped trying to innovate and build he newer types of systems .. Speakers are basically made the same with just different materials and they went cheap ....Awesome! Interesting and that's the fate of some of the old names restraunts too they don't move forward with the times then the new ways make them extinct. Ib do remember that brand from back in the day. Good you f kept yours. Can still enjoy the great quality! Same with the old appliances and every other thing of quality. Heck when I put the drivers Altec in the drivers door first it improved the sound so much I didnt thinkmI needed to put in the passengers side one hahahaha ! Dodge at least the Dakot factory spears were designed with a spacer and made for a more pain in the glutes to install since the spacer has to be reused and the wire connector cut off and splice the connections to the replacement speakers .. thye are 6.5's and those tabs arent replacement speakers which makes younhave to use screws to mount the speakers into the spacer ( very carefully ) . The speaker also must be mounted in the spacer in the same position or the spacer wont line up to the bolt holes in the door .. I missed on the passenger side on that and had to turn the speaker and rescrew it to get it all to line up .. then after firing up the system 2 of the screws loosend on the passenger door and I need to replace them and hope they hold up .. cheap ask plastics and the alignment is not the best from screws to spacer .. maybe ill just JB weld them in perminant like lol .. The sound improved even more on tomes all around and it holly smoke a ton loarder when I crank up the volume .. a large sub wooooooooofer would max it out and piss people off hahahaha ? Heck maybe install the Frankenstein amplyfier to boost it even more .. The truck has no external amp !

Great! Love the upgrade -made a big difference and goes great with the other things you've done. I cant even max the volume as it now could scramble my brains hahaha .. It has great sound and tones with decent clarity at a livable volume .. not that annoying Thump thump boom boom defening body panel rattle stinking noise most kids have in their cars ...Great! Love the upgrade -made a big difference and goes great with the other things you've done. Very cool!

Air bag recall replacement day ... theyll be here this morning .. I sure hope he doesnt break anything with all the cheap plastic used by dodge .. appears he will have to remove a ton of the dash to replace the passenger side airbag ... its going to be hotter than heck for the guy sitting in the truck ...
Hmmm , since I bought the blend door a year or so ago and havent installed it I wonder with the airbag install it can or he can just simply install it and save me from having to take dash parts off lol ...

Women dont were skirts anymore lol
New airbags installed ,, took the guy about 2 minutes .. I havent seen any broken plastic and theyndidnt explode lol so he knew what he was doing..
As for the blend door he said to do it buy tue book it takes hours and includes replacing the entire door and box .
He said there are 23 screws to remove the passenger airbag lol ...

Looks like I have pretty much decided on getting a buffer/ polisher. Im hoping it will remove the lowest levels of the door and bed pan old clearcoat .. Of course making the nosey neighborss / HOA jerks think im just buffing and waxing the truck ..
Before I make the purchase I want to check one out in person so will have to head to Harbor Frieght first .. Reviews and research are very good and compares to very expensive ones .
What buffers are others using that is comparable to the herculies ?
