2025 Project Post Ho Thread

Hi Wifey!! Long time no hear. Been on a work vacation last 6 years. Doing good these days. Business has really picked up and looking forward to getting back racing at the track. Goal was to attend HRDW but truck isn’t ready yet but close.
Wow!! Glad you're still in! Maybe you'll find a few minutes now and then to stop in and update us. If no update at least make something up!
Hahahaha!!! Good day sir!

Dakota wet sanding of hood and fenders almost done ... the couple goofs as good as fixed shown on previous pics .... Sanded using 1000 grit wet and 2000 grit wet ... may go to 2500 grit before rubbing compound then polishing to hopefully a high gloss .. I will wait about a month to wax it with I dont know what lol.. (Ceramic Or Graphene) ?

Regular oil change and inspection today - just shy of 24k miles. They find a leaky axle boot on passenger side. Service manager claims no holes, splits or cracks. I asked why a would be leaking he says oh things do that sometimes

I said no, no they don't unless simething in there is loose or wrong. It's this a warranty item? No he says - we just wait and watch and will look at it next service. So after thinking on it I'm not happy with that answer! I'm going back to have him explain why that's a prudent thing to do. Doesn't that just allow the boot time to develop a problem and dirt and water to enter? My warranty is still in effect and I either want much more written documentation and their recommendation to wait in writing. Or i think i should push for warranty.

Thoughts???

My thinking is if it's not wear and tear issue then it's a parts quality issue.

I'm thinking the clamp must be loose - if there truly no Boot damage. I hate dealerships lol. Plus I'm taking a little road trip to moms next week  I have appt with my nephews shop for a look see/second opinion on the situation lol

Haven’t done much in the past week or so, to many other to do’s to do

I would absolutly look into the warreny ..

Not the Queen she's only got 5830 on her lol

10 year 100,000 on power train and i talked to service manager today. Questioned him like he was on trial lol

So the deal is. No physical damage at all to the boot so not "wear and tear" issue. I asked if camp was tight too Factory specs - that's the basic issue. Clamp can't be tightened down because it is set at the factory and can't be accessed (so he tells me) it's not a warranty issue "yet" because it's just slight seepage. Once it gets a little worse, if it does, then they can submit it as a warranty issue which is what i think he's looking at.

Supposedly no flinging grease and no issue with debris since the boot itself is fine. The grease that is on the boot supposedly won't cause degradation to the boot since it's made of some newfangled stuff and not old skool rubber like my prior vehicles.

They have an inspection Video on file that can be accessed by any dealer for seven years.

I don't "go away" so I'm sure he knows this will not sit good with me until is taken care of. He can escalate to warranty I'm sure if i persist. :D

And persist I will

When it gets to my nephew and it's on the lift, then I can see everything and take pics etc. plus i will have my nephew write up his professional opinion. Documentation is key. If nephew agrees with all that I was told then I'll good to wait and watch, if not I go right back and go for the warranty.

He was surprised I even knew what an axle boot was :D:p:rolleyes:

That's what they bank on.
