Got an insurance quote a while ago for a 07 hayabusa. Was $94 a month full coverage.

Recently a co-worker parked his R6 perpendicular in the parking spot, at very beginning of it and right on the line, and right at the back tire of my SRT-10. When i backed out,I turned and my tire stuck out from the fenderwell and bumped his tire, dumping it. Minor cosmetic damage. No cops called, no ticket. But i felt like SHIT!

I called USAA they said it wont make my rate go up as long as it was under $5k. So i claimed it.

The guy wound up really getting taken care of by my insurance company. Claiming $4950 getting chrome dipped wheels, custom paint and other mods. I didnt care..... UNTIL NOW!

I called to get a quote for a similar bike i was going to buy before. Holy SHIT! $390 a month for minimal state coverage and minimal comp/col (im financing) I got off the phone, called statefarm, geico, allstate, i let them know i had the "accident" the cheapest quote i got was $312 a month for a 1000cc.

Being it wasnt a "wreck" should i just answer no, and consider the mishap a "claim", like a broken windshield? Or should i cancel my plans, and buy a P.O.S. cruiser out of pocket?

That sucks. USAA is usually on point. I wouldn't even call it a "wreck". I'd just tell them you accidently bumped it and it fell over or something.

I would have paid for the bike repair out of pocket. My friend had a similar issue with an insurance company and had the same result. It will probably be 2 years before the rate will change.

I'm sure it was covered under your collision so it is a wreck.

Shouldnt a backing accident be listed different than a wreck or moving violation or ticket

Not likely...they call it "Failure to clear the rear while backing" or "improper backing" depending on the state law or statute. Still a moving violation and the vehicle was in motion and operated by a person so it is a traffic accident.

sounds odd...i have usaa and love it...alot cheaper then that tho...

Never say wreck b/c a lot of times it shows different or it might be out of the date...I always say no...

A claim is a claim. Few years back had insurance rates go up when someone hit me they had no insurance so i used my uninsured motorist to fix it sill counted against me.

USAA is pretty good. You screw up once... like I did and they will jack your rate thru the roof. So I took defensive driving and drug and safety course to lower my rate. BAAAM they up my rate again. ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES USE WHAT IS CALLED C.L.U.E.......CLUE stands for Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange. They keep tabs on everyone. Here is the link to check your history. If you've had a claim it should be on here. It's free to check your stuff. I had two accidents on mine totaling over $7000.

A claim is a CLAIM........period! You should have told the guy you didnt have any insurance and offer to pay him out of pocket. I know the exact kind of damage that happened(tip-over damage), and you should have just bought the guy new plastics (if the bike was brand new), or gave him $500 if it was a used bike. The guy hosed your insurance company and got all kinds of free crap out of it. He is riding a fully customized bike at your expense. I would be pissed at HIM, if anyone.

And dude...this is NO wreck or even an accident!! Dont say a word about it to any insurance company. Try calling again to a different company and dont say a word about the "mishap". See what happens.

Yup I discovered CLUE thru trying to get a Progressive quote. Tried to cheat the system on some questions and they knew the truth. Cheeky Bastards!

Well it's all said and done at this point bro. Chalk this one up to a life lesson. Insurance companies are not in anyone's interest when it comes to paying out cash for a claim! Insurance companies all of them are frauds! Auto Insurance is a multi billion dollar business. You can drop USAA but your still gonna have to pay no matter who you are with. I've searched hi and low for a cheaper rate, but the fact remains I get a better deal with a jacked up rate thru USAA then I can else where.

Remember all insurance companies are CHEEKY MONEY HUNGRY BASTARDS, who live off our mistakes. Best thing to do is just try and be more cautious. Take a defensive driving course & a drug/alcohol course to lower your rate. Also they give discounts for GPS tracking devices. I have yet to figure out how much!

Also go to the USAA auto insurance page and update your discounts if you haven't done so!

I saw these posts before i replied. I mean a different company than you already tried already. Just give it another shot and dont mention the mishap.

I found that when I covered my house, cars, and life insurance through the same company it dropped my coverages about 20% more than when they were through different companies. They consider it a multiline discount or something. My truck went from $60/month full coverage to $48. Course you have PIP I believe in FL which makes it higher. I got around that when I was stationed there by keeping my address in AR. I had an accident while there and they covered it no problem. I've noticed recently that insurance rates are affected by credit scores. I think this is a bunch of crap.

Django has it right. You cannot screw with the system. It will get you.

I have had USAA for over 40 years...they have financed all of my homes, insured all of my cars, all of my children's cars and still do. They also have a third of my investments.

They did cancel my daughters auto insurance after three accidents and several speeding tickets.

USAA is a great insurance company. When they take adverse action they are protecting their members at the expense of a single member.

Going to another company will not help. You may get a lower rate, but it will be for a bare bones policy without much of the support and resources of a larger more reputable firm. They all use the same data base for determining premiums. Sharing the information protects them.

Pay the piper grasshopper. Stay with USAA. In the long run you will never find a better insurance company.
