I have thought about changing to a 4.10 gear in my QC. Thought it would help for highway driving and also help mileage some? Anybody done this. Dumb idea? Any thoughts appreciated! :)

THANKS!

I think it would def help your gas mileage. I had the 4.10s in my RC and I never even used 6th gear even on the interstate because it was so low. I switched to the 4.56s and now I NEED 6th gear on the highway.

Alot of people will disagree with me but I also think the 4.10s are fine for the track. I raced my neighbor (me 4.10s and him 4.56s). With almost identical mods. He got a fender on me off the line and I pulled it all back in the second half of the track. ;)

On the street where most races happen from a roll I'd rather have the 4.10s anyway. They are better than 4.56 from a roll IMHO.

My 2 cents.:D

A QC has alot more wieght than a RC, switching to 4.10 would slow it way down off the line...

Do you have to have the Stage II Flash changed going to 4.10?

Looks like stay with 4.56????

THANKS!

Sounds Good.

Any other QC's running 4.10 gears on here. All opinions welcome!

Thanks!

FWIW, I've still got my Stock '04 4.10's sitting in a box here. Don't really know WTF to do with them???:dontknow:  :dontknow:

About ~4,000 miles when I replaced them w/ 4.56's. No Problems.

I hate the idea of just taking them to the local recycling place and scrapping them.

DC went with the 456 in the QC to give it acceleration comparible to the SC. Gas mileage is always going to be a problem. You'll never recover dollars spent to buy/install a 410 on money saved on gas. As for racing on the road, I try to ensure we either run from 20mph or 60mph start. Both put full throttle right into the beginning of peak horsepower for a gear. I'm staying with the 456 and will change tire diameter at the track for an effective 488.

Just my thoughts and opinions.

It doesn't have to cost you anything for the gears. Just trade rear ends with a 04 owner (4.10s) like I did with JMB Justin. Just took us a few hours to change them over as a complete assy. Free mod for both of us. ;)

How does your truck drive? Town/Highway/Mileage?

Well, I have the 4.56s now because my engine builder wanted me to switch over. Justin has my 4.10s now.

With the 4.10s I got 17 mpg on the highway. I hardly EVER used 6th gear unless I was trying to see how many MPGs I could get. I usually drove in 5th gear even on the interstate because 6th gear at 75 mph was barely over idle speed. I usually got at least 10 mpg city, even if I was hot rodding it.

I haven't clocked any mileage with the 4.56s yet so I don't know what I'm getting now.:dontknow:

I have seen no difference at all in mileage with the 4.10's over 4.56's. I beat the hell out of it around town, but when I get on the highway im in 6th immediately and set the cruise. The truck doesnt seem to care if its at 1600@80 or 1900@80 mileage wise. A QC may be different since it has much less overdrive, but your going to hate the gears around town IMO.

Gears are spoken for. Thanks.:wavey:

I put 3.73 rear gears in my 2005 QC. It has helped the mileage out by about 2.5 mpg on the hiway. I drive several times per year to Vegas about 600 miles one way. At 80 mph the tach is just barely over 2000 rpm with the 3.73 gears. That is about 500 rpm less than the 4.56 would get. At 80 mph I get about 16.5 mpg vs. the 14 mpg I used to get with the 4.56. On a 1200 mile round trip I use 13 less gallons of gas so I save about $40 per trip. I did notice a little less acceleration off the line but not that bad. I did not see much improvement in city mileage.
