Ok,I am having the same problem that Maui SRT10 had..............to go with the 4.56 or 4.88 gears.I already have everything needed for the 4.56,but before I put them in I would like some input from those that have had both.Actually, any input to help me decide.Money is not that big a factor.I was looking to keep existing mpg or even better it with the 4.56.The 4.88's may drop mileage by two mpg. What about the 4.56's ? Realistically,I only go on the interstate about 5-10% of the time I drive it.I also have another truck,so if I need to,I can drive it on trips.
HELP !!!!!!!!!!

I say stick with the 4.56. I believe they are low enough for most applications and fuel economy is not affected as much...

Hey guy, what's up ? Can't wait to see your truck.Maybe we can both make it to Hampton ? Thanks for the reply.I was thinking the same.Just need to get as much input as possible.

Doing great...Dude...I have been going to that Burger King car show every weekend, pretty good people there...

Dude there really is no right or wrong answer. The 4.88's are gonna give you a little quicker off the line feel. And you will loose 1 to 2 mpg with the 4.88's. Not sure what the mpg with the 4.56''s are. Remember there is only a 12% change between the 4.10 and 4.56. I would call up Unitrax and talk with the Jerry the owner. He was really cool with me and convinced me that the 4.88's were the best choice for me.

In the end your gotta just choose one or other. I will tell you that when you driving through stoplight traffic the truck is in that sweet spot rpm range in fourth gear. Its just squat and go when you need it to....no need to downshift. I love it. As far as highway miles......shit we still have sixth gear.

F#ck it dude....get the 4.88s!!!! :burnout: .........Now I really have confused you!!! LOL

Drove both....to many shifts with the 4.88:1, went with the 4.56:1...from Unitrax.
And like Patrick said : you'll have NO first gear with street tires!
Hell even with the 4.56:1's I have NO first gear either.....:D

Good Luck,
Quick

I think I am leaning toward keeping the 4.56's.My "mechanic" looked at everything today and says he can do it.Sounded like he knew what he was talking about.he said the only tricky part was the spacers and that he would have to probably put them in and take them out a few times to get everything right. So,hopefully next Friday is the big day !:D

4.56's if you plan of going forced induction down the road, 488's if you'r going with bolt-ons...

I have 1st gear with my 4.56's - at least in the warmer weather. Although once the temps go down and the blacktop cools off, I'll be spinning through 1st and halfway through 2nd.

It's gotta be a handfull with the supercharger!!

Boy, you got that right. She likes to bring her big tail-end around!
The ass-end usually goes to the right first, and then to the left after I take my big foot out-of-it...:dancing:
Couldn't be any happier!

did he give u a quote on it? im wondering because im about ready to do 4.56's as well reason being i plan on supercharging eventually. would like to know how much its gonna cost and how long its gonna take

Boomer has a kit with EVERYTHING in it.PM him for his price.I think it was a fair price for what was included. The labor rate will be $40/hr. from my friend, but at a dealership it is around $69/hr.Should take about 8 hrs.

Took mine straight to Unitrax...5.5/hrs. This will give you a yard-stick on time taken. These guy's are the experts!
After to young guy's work on her for most of the day, and were getting close to finishing... one of the old guy's in the shop was called over, he walked under the Truck and grabed the thrid member (ring/gear) and gave it a turn with his 'big' hand, both ways, and said it's perfect.
Put her all back together and we were down the road for a test drive.
Devin wouldn't drive her...asked me to drive her while he was in the passenger/seat.

Again good Luck,
Quick
