i have done about all to my engine that i can do. I am still losing to my wife's shelby by one and a half lenghts. how much difference does the 488 gears make? are they worth the trouble or not?

It will get you from 0-110 quicker, you will have to take 5th if you go beyond there!!

If traction is your problem do not go with the 4:88's it will just get worse.

Instead of gears, maybe a different tune will work better than the Mopar unit?:dontknow: At what point does she begin to pull away?

Caltracs or talk to JMB about some other alternatives....

Then a little shot of..... NOS!!!! Mhahahahahahaa!

488 = more wheel spin slower top speed
456 = less wheel spin higher top speed
410 = even less wheel spin even higher top speed

Get ahold of "msdnga",Marty will get everything tuned up for you on a SCT tuner,If you had a fresh dyno,He will hit it bang on first shot!

V-10 aganist a V-8....you should do better.....

Quick
Just take the belt off her car and see how it runs...

I have been thinking about seeing if i could get her a bigger pulley to lower the boost

I think that is the neatest thing ever, my wife smacks the piss out of me every time in hit 2nd gear.

now with the ROE i even found my 1ste small on 410..... can't go WOT ( = thurst it ) ....yes,once in 2de ....
Cannot imagine driving 488 .... i think 1ste is almost unusable...but you can launch in second i suppose... :dontknow:

Just a thought

I bought my 04 instead of a Mustang GT. I compared the numbers and all seemed to favor the SRT except one very important area; weight. I just will remember that I can haul more than just a** in my toy! Maybe one day we will find a carbon fiber front clip, doors and bed to shed some poundage and then the GT500s will be toast!

i appreciate the info. It dont sound like the 488 is my answer. I will keep searching. Everyone is giving me a hard time about it. But think the hp started out the same on both, mine is shaped like a box and weighs a lot more. But i am going to take her if it cost another 25k.

Not sure what year you have but if its an 04, 4.56 gears with your mods would be great IMO. 4.88's with your mods, would just spin way too much. I spin enough as it is.

I moved from 4:10 to 4:56 and the drive ability in traffic improved greatly...I would think that 4:88's would be an even better normal driving solution...but from a racing perspective I agree with the statements above...the Cobra will get you even more with the 4:88...

How about a 125 shot?

Bet that would do the job!
