48 RE Automatic tranny length?

Yeah, got the T56 in today and can't get under the truck and was wondering if anyone had one out they could measure the length of? This 6 speed sure is short!

I don't know the length but the 48 RE is LONG compared to a T56, or a TH400 for that matter. You will have to have a new transmission crossmember fabricated and a new drive shaft.

its 27 and half inchs plus 2 little lines past half dont know mesurements.thats with out bell housing. also the adapter plate between bell annd trans is 25 and half.

You talking about a T56 Stan? Looking for overall length of a 48RE Auto from mounting surface to tailshaft end. Haven't been able to get under truck lately. The T56 is not long at all and expected a new driveshaft.
