I have been experiancing some a/t issues. I have read where other people have had problems with the 1-2 shift. Mine is also having this problem, it's like it dosent know which gear to go into. Also when I am going in 4th and floor it it won't downshift it will act like I put it in neutral and just rev until I lift then it shifts into 3rd then 4th. I also have slipping in 3rd and 4th. Is it toast or what?

if you still have warrenty take it to the dealer...

No warranty unless you bought extended.....but take it to the dealer and let them put your serial # thru their Chrysler computer.....never know when there is a new TSB or other...

Same problem here!

What I think the cure would be is the Transgo shift kit. That sounds like the way to get rid of the dyslectic tranny problem. A band adjustment my cure your slipping. A filter change may be required also.

If you still have a slipping problem, add Lucas transmission stop slip. It is awesome in one of the older trucks I went from slipping to the point of no movement to scraching 2nd gear HARD. I promise it will help! and it beats a 4 grand tranny. Heck even if it doesn't work, it cant hurt.

Hmmmm, what happens when you hit 63K ????:dontknow:

ya know i'm not sure if u guys are just beating the crap out of ur trucks but mine has 84k and not one trans issue

Mine experienced "gear hunting" as a result of govenor pressure solenoid going bad.

a few questions need to be asked first

when is the last time you changed fluid?

or the last time the bands were adjusted?

sounds like the clutches in the tranny is probably toast, especially with the slippin,

BUT!!!

Give me a couple more days, maybe the first of the week, and I may (with the help of a very good friend) be able to help you with a sweet rebuilt , billet tranny deal;)

At 16,500 miles I had my fluid and filter changed, bands adjusted, and a TransGo shift kit put in. I'd had no problem prior to the service and kit installation........it was just time for scheduled service and I wanted the kit for quicker/firmer shifts. I now have 24,800 miles on my truck. For the last 2,000 or so miles, if I did a full throttle run I started to experience a periodic delay (truck would fall off, no increase in rpms, then shift to the next gear, with the dealy being estimated at .2-.3 seconds) on my 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. Thanks to Dan Cragin the PCM variable is eliminated (sorta felt like bumping the rev limiter/problem much worse on drag radials). Dan also suggested I talk with the guy that does all the SRT10 transmission work for them. From that conversation I learned that they have a TransGo kit they use in California on the SRT10s that isn't the same that's available on the TransGo website or to my transmission guy. According to Joe at Westminster Transmissions, it's a larger box, is clearly marked "For Professional Installation Only", and contains among other additional parts a resistor that has to be soldered into a wire when the shift kit's installed to trick the tranny and computer to work together with the new increased pressures. My delays have temporarily gone away but I expect I'll get the resistor installed anyway. I only mention the above details because of the comment about installing a TransGo shift kit. As for the searching for the 1-2 shift, mine started doing the same under very light acceleration within the last week. This afternoon, per instructions on this forum I removed slack from the shift cable that attaches to the throttle linkage, and the problem's completely gone. That may be all that's required for yoru 1-2 shift search also.

Sorry but another comment......what you describe on the 3-4 shift is exactly the same symptom I had on an '89 Mustang GT. There'd be no warning then on the 3-4 it'd behave exactly as you described. The fix each time (3) was a new tranny. Hopefully your experience will be different.

listen to oldguy, start with adjusting cable, if that doesnt work change filer, fluid, and adjust the bands. if that doesnt take care of it then take it to the dealer. thats what i would do. may fix your problem and save you some bucks. mines been acting up a little since the nats, figured out i put a quart too much fluid in it so i drew a quart out and wa la its fine now. i adjust the bands and change the fluid on mine once a year. still shifts hard.

Disregard my comments in the above about the shift kit being used in California being a new one. Turns out it's the old version. The new one readily available through a variety of sources per conversation with TransGo uses mechanical means to address the issues previously addressed by the resistor.

Mine was doing about the same same thing. I called my trans rebuilder and he said to adjust the bands. He said alot of these trans came from the factory with the bands way out of adjustment. I checked mine and woooow were they loose. After adjustment I now have a solid 2nd gear. I adjusted the throttle cable and its much better. I installed new filter while pan was off and used the recommended fluid . I was sure my trans was toast when it started skipping 2nd gear and downshifting to the rev limiter, it is now fun to drive again. Newbe
