OK, I hate to ask this, but I saw this on "JH" website and wanted to know if anyone else does this and what is the cost. They claim 800hp in the Viper doing 10.8's in the 1/4. I am leaning on this mod instead of N2O, turbo, or supercharger.....ok Im lying I'd spray later:D I have searched the web a few time and found similar viper performance shops, but none doing the 588ci.

Just my gut feel...to get 588 out of our block the sleeves would have to be paper thin and the stroke would have to be about nine feet long.

I think his E.T. projections and speeds are probably correct...getting back to the pits would be the problem.

When I was looking to get my motor built, I was going to have the block re sleeved and shoot for 620ish ci, if your going that big why not go for the biggest...

but just to get started - 6000$ crank

JH's 585 isn't even a 585 it is a 577. It is a 4.25 Bore with a 4.07 stroke. Like others have said I don't know how he is safely getting that bore into a Gen 3 engine. Lingenfelter makes a 540 using a 4.25" crank and stock bore. If you really want NA power then you could do the 4.25" stroke with a EED/RED Darton 4.16" sleeved block. Still a 577 but you will have sleeves that all the biggest power makers trust. Don't ask me how Lingenfelter puts a 4.25" stroke with 6.25" rods though. Doesn't add up?
 
FstJack's motor is a larger bore with sleeves, stock stroke. Maybe he'll chime in on what his bore is and then combine that with the fairly common 522 stroke and see what you come up with. I'd wager that would be the strongest combination and not as outrageous in price as some of these crazy big displacement engines.
 
Thats what Im really trying to find out, how big is too big with our stock block, and is the money worth it.
 
FSTJACK's is a 4.15" bore from EED/RED. Then you would just offset grind the crank to chevy journal size. Stroke varies crank to crank based on the amount of material available (4.00-4.07 is the norm). Most will tell you to leave the crank stroke stock if you want 1500+HP. So IF you did sleeves and offset ground crank you would see anywhere from 540-550ci. Just sleeves will bring you in at 536ci. I can't tell you if it is worth the money though have to wait on Jack for that one.

The Moldex billet cranks are pricey (last quote I got was $5k and nearly a years wait). That will get you any stroke (I believe up to 4.25") and journal size you want. This is not the cheap way to make power though.

What are you going to do with your truck? What are your goals?

I think you need to do some analysis of what you want as an end product.

If all you are going to do is put it on a trailer and run it at the strip then we can respond to that goal...if you are going to want it to be a daily driver that is totally different...

What is your budget...FstJack is over $200k...what is your top end limit?

NO, IM NOT PUTTING 200K (my house) INTO THE BUILD OF MY TRUCK

Eventually I would trailer it going to events, but also to have the ability to drive it down the street to a local hangout would be cool too.

I, so far, have not seen anyone talk about stroking the V-10's, I saw JH website and wondered who has done this and is it practical....now I would do a 522ci vs a 577ci if I can drive it down the street, I would also TRY to get lower compression pistons, because I will go with some sort of power adder and to have the ability to fill up on pump gas would be good. This will all come in time and Im trying to do one thing and still have the ability to add another...ex 522ci with 8.5 compression pistons and a paxton supercharger

Leave the bore and stroke the same, forge the internals...choose your power adder or maybe power adders...plural...then spray on top of that...Dom will talk you through the process!

Have Stinker or JMB do the work...

Figure $20-45k and five months work, and you will have one of the top 20 trucks here until it blows, and then you can do it again!

Brian forget all this CID mess.

When I get home I'm dumping a quart of tranny fluid out of Ole Broken and refilling it with Lucas Oil Transmission Stop Slip. Maybe this will allow me to enjoy my truck while jasper figures out how to build a transmission.

If it holds together maybe you can stop buy for a quick ride and a drink.

One ride will cure you of this CID mess. Blower only way to go!
