588ci Stroker

The only reason to do a 522, which is just an offset grind on the crank, is to run the stronger Oliver rods. It is not to make more power/torque. This should not be compared to using a Chevy 350 block and stroking it to a 383 or 408.

Well I would say the reason there would be to offset grind the crank is so you can buy the cheaper "off the shelf" Chevy Oliver rods instead of having to buy completely custom ones. The more material the stronger the crank IMHO.

I've heard somewhere that offsetting the crank improved the angle that the rod pushed from. Basically putting less lateral pressure on the piston. Does that make sense? Don't remember where I heard that.

Actually if the offset grind is increasing the stroke then you are reducing the rod/stroke ratio (you run out of room to increase the rod length). It does improve low end TQ but increases lateral pressure on the piston(ever so slightly). The 4" stroke doesn't radically change the R/S like going to the 4.25" stroke though. You have to do at least a 5% change to see any noticeable differences in timing, etc.

Never mind Brian............

Ole' Broken only lasted 5 mins....................... Backed it out of the driveway, should've parked it when it didn't go into reverse. I wanted to pick up my kids in Broken. Broken had other plans 5 miles from the house it decieded not to shift anymore.......................

Hopefully it will be fixed soon, then you can go for a mustache ride! :)

Is there not an after-market transmission that can be bolted in without reworking the OEM? Seems the transmission is the QC weak point...has anyone just gone totally away from the OEM and looked to the after-market for a more capable transmission????

Several. My truck currently has a stage 5 Suncoast in it. It was pricey... like around 7k for tranny and converter. I can't tell you much about it performance wise because it only has engine break in miles on it and no WOT runs but it shifts very firm and lightning quick and I'm certain it would last forever behind a supercharged engine.

As for non OEM, I'll be selling that Suncoast because I'm changing to a Chevy TH400 with a gear vendors behind it. Custom converter, reverse manual valve body, transbrake, carbon fiber scatter shield, built to withstand 1500+hp. Total cost plus adapter... almost 10k. The 48re can also be converted to a 48rh, a non electronic transmission, that has more options (like manual valve body) than does the electronic version. I don't know how much stronger, if any, it would be than say the Suncoast or some of the other built ones.

Just seems that these approaches to the major issue with the qc is the way to go. I believe in massive overkill to solve problems. If a problem exists I only want to deal with it once.

Thanks for the input Joe...

Anyone else have experience with solutions for the QC transmission issues?

Yes he got the tranny from Jasper, and most have not had probs with them, but Ike seems to kill them as sooon as he gets them:dontknow: we have worked with jasper to recitfy the problem but the last word is they were going to buy a truck to do testing with, and do alot of upgrades to help the tranny out, but things dont happen overnight;)
But ike also has a buddy, Dusty, whom is really great with trannys, he has allready helped a few of our members with killer results:rock:
But with the mods Ike has, he shouldnt have problems.
The trannies are good and strong, but cant take alot of abuse;)

I wont go in to it at all or get into it about the tranny, Eddie and i have both spoken with Jasper a ton on ikes tranny, and i am not going to tell all that ike has "demanded" from jasper.jasper is about done with Ike and the way he speaks to them
but I have worked my ass off to get him happy, and he gets a tranny and in 5 minutes of the first ride its toast.
he bought a used truck, Eddie was nice enough to try to help him with the warrany on it. Eddie had the tranny in for months with no problems. Ike got it home and the tranny went south immediatly.
I would suggest he take it to dusty, that is his cure.
Nobody else has had the problems Ike does
because of the problems Ike has had and the way he talked with them I can no longer can sell the transmissions

thats about all i have to say about the situation, nothing against ike , i like him, but I can only do so much on the situation

Tony I've been nice to them, I have expressed that thier tranny's don't work. Must of the time with a laugh when all i want to do IS CRY!

...............Nice enough to help me with the transmission................ Nice enough to help me with the transmission!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*********the following is capitalized for expression purposes only, I'm not yelling at anyone*****************8

I SPENT 1000 DOLLARS FLYING TO ALABAMA TO BUY A TRUCK THAT HAD A BAD TRANSMISSION. EDDIE KNEW THEIR WAS SOMETHING WRONG, I DON'T THINK HE KNEW IT WAS THAT BAD. I TOLD HIM THE TRANNY WAS TRASH THAT NIGHT, AND AGAIN HIS ANSWER WAS IT'S GOT A WARRANTY. I OVER PAID FOR A TRUCK THAT IS SHIT DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION, ABSOLUTE SHIT.

NOW THIS IS NOT EDDIES OR YOUR FAULT, AND IT DAMN SURE AIN'T MINE. IT IS JASPERS, THEY WROTE CHECKS THEIR TRANSMISSIONS COULDN'T CASH AND NOW I'M GOING TO DROP ANOTHER 3000 BUCKS BECAUSE OF IT.

SO WHO'S OUT HERE? YOU TONY, NO BECAUSE IF YOU HAD SOLD MORE OF THEIR TRASH IT WOULD BE WORSE FOR YOU. EDDIE.......................HELL NO HE GOT 30,000 FOR A TRUCK THAT WOULD'VE NEVER SOLD FOR THAT HAD SOMEONE AS GULLIBLE AS ME NOT COME AROUND. I'M THE ONE THAT HAS TO TAKE IT IN THE ASS................. AND I DON'T KNOW WHY, IF I WAS ON THE OTHER END AND HAD MADE A GOOD PROFIT ON SOMETHING, AND SEEN IT FALL TO PIECES AFTER 3000 MILES. THERE ARE A FEW THINGS I WOULD'VE DONE DIFFERENT. JUST THE KIND OF GUY I AM.

AND AS TO WHAT I "DO" TO DESTROY THE TRANSMISSION............ I TRY TO PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR THROUGH 3RD GEAR. ASK EDDIE WHAT HAPPENED EVERY TIME HE DID IT. who here thinks a transmission should be able to full throttle into 3rd gear...................... o o o o me me pick me. I think it should.

I don't have nor want any enemies in this, I just want a truck that drives.

I think 99%of the people here know i will go 200%out of my way to help anyone, but when they start bending the truth, thats when I stop.
all I can do at this point is wish you well, and hope that you get your problem resolved in a tranny that you didnt buy, I do belive on your bill of sale it says , "as is"

Tony, did you just call me a liar. Sir I am the most truthfull person i've ever meet. I tell the truth to my detrament.................. Thats the kind of man I am. What i bought was a truck with this transmission that is bad.

I'm sure you would take it so well............... no you wouldn't i remember when you twin turbo'd your quad cab and tried to run the company out of business when you stock engine let go..........

I can't believe it's come to you calling me a liar......................... me LOL

BigIke...you and I have had our issues but we seem to be fine lately...but I have to say, your post really seems to cast the blame on two people that have a lot of good history over the years.

Just my opinion and you can ignore it if you want...when you buy a used SRT 10 you always buy it "as is"...there is a philosophy that says "buyer beware"...because once you pay you own the vehicle and all of its issues. If you felt the transmission was bad, you should have renegotiated the deal not paid then bitch later.

Man up...fella...a used vehicle is just that.

I don't think you mean to cast negative thoughts about Eddie or Tony...but your post does come off that way.

I know you are frustrated, hell we all get that way from time to time...but to post in the way you did is really in poor taste...recommend you think about it and maybe have the mods delete your post...and offer a hand in apology to two of our most respected members.

I have no dog in this issue...just an old fart viewing things from the outside. Think about my comments friend...I think you will agree.

ROY IT'S THE TRANSMISSION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT EITHER OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOW IT NEEDS TO BE MADE RIGHT.

caps off ;)

Man up.............. I hate that lol. I was called a liar, I'm not. It was stated that i didn't buy the transmission, i stated that I did with the f word thrown in for effect.

I like to think that i'm respect also. people IM me and thank me for my posts........sometimes.
