stands for army navy, civilian version is JIC which is what most hyd shops call them. So ask for an 8jic to 4jic.

JIC is hydraulic with a 37 degree flare?????

AN, StratoFlex, AeroQuip use a 45 degree flare

it still works:aetsch: :aetsch: most an fittings you get are not really an there mostly jic(unless you specifically say an), but an 8an male will work on an 8jic female.

i agree. but just feels different when tightenin the 2 different angles together.

usually have to put extra tight to get them to conform/seal

both are 37 and then there is a 45. that will feel looser. They say the strength is the differance but I call bs. SInce almost every machine I work on is 3000psi or more hyd system and us all jic or ors. Very rarely see fitting go unless cross thread or bad oring(hoses blow all the time) an now is just a way to get more money or unless your actually using them on aircraft, then the cost is justifiable.

have replaced many hoses on Cat engines over the years. Cat uses JIC, not sure why, lmao, but put a Stratofles Or AeroQuip hose on the Cat fittings without extra tight & you will have leaks.

i agree with ya, never seen any fittin fail, just hoses or tubin
