You're right... cluster bombs. I didn't think we were using them anymore over there. Might be an old video:dontknow:

What are the rules of engagement in situations like this...is there a process by which the targets are confirmed as Taliban?

Are there free fire zones in which any vehicle traffic is considered hostile? Since there are no identifying marks that characterize one side or the other, how do we ascertain the intent or affiliation of the vehicles?

How do we determine if the vehicles are not possibly transferring locals out of a combat area, or assisting them in getting their products to market?

I loved the fire power, and am duly impressed with the A10 targeting ability and coverage...but other concerns have entered my mind...who says that the targets were in fact Taliban...and how do we determine the veracity of those confirmations?

I worked in a program that accepted targets from the Vietnamese National Police, I never questioned who the targets were, just did my thing with my Vietnamese SF assets. Later in life it came to light that many of our targets were simply rivals or people who would not pay graft to the National Police. Some were the children of Village Chief's that would not cooperate with the "White Mice" or local police authorities...

Just asking from experience...

30 Mike Mike....great round...carried a launcher along with my Model 95 12 gauge for many months...the 30 mm was great at clearing snipers from palm trees!

What the video doesn't show is the 30 min of radio traffic before they fire making sure it's a legit target. Everybody's afraid of going to jail... all to often, bad guys get away because of it. When a target is taken out with firepower like that, they're bad guys for sure

That's comforting to know...I know, in my time we were not nearly as cautious as we should have been...there are many instances that I still wonder if I had taken more time, or thought about the task a little harder, that errors might have been avoided.
