A/C always on

it's been a while I suspected my A/C was always on, then talking with Mr HD we found we have the same problem.

looks like turning it on it blows more cold.

is there any explanation to this behavior?

You are correct, as far as i know...i had the same question and the dealer tech told me the defrost mode runs the compressor

Defrost definately runs the compressor so dry air can remove the moisture quickly. Mix is a split betweed Defog and Feet. This is straight from the owners manual:

Mix
Outside air flows in equal proportions through the
floor and defroster outlets.
Defrost
Outside air is primarily directed to the windshield
through the defroster outlets located at the base of
the windshield and side window demist outlets.

NOTE: The air conditioning compressor operates in
both Mix and Defrost or a blend of these modes, even if
the A/C button has not been pressed. This dehumidifies
the air to help dry the windshield.
