I don't know if this is just normal, but my engine temp goes over 200 at idle and it feels like the a/c does not blow as cold as it does when i'm driving.:dontknow: this truck is new to me, and i dont want to waist any of my techs time if it is just normal??

Sounds normal to me ---before I changed the t-stat and i'm sure most on here will tell you the same thing --these trucks read a temp of about 205 degrees---A/C at idle will not put out the same as when air is passing through the condensor during truck movement or fan operating.....

You're going to either have to get the factory fan coming on earlier, or put an electric fan on it to cool teh A/C down at idle. If the fan's not running, the A/C's not working and the temp goes up. An auxillary electric fan cured that issue for me...

Are these trucks not configured so that the fan comes on when the AC is on

regardless of engine speed? I thought that was universal.:dontknow:

i've got a t stat and sct but my truck still runs 200 in traffic and the ac gets warmer, but goin down the highway it runs 170

They do but obviously not don't turn full speed. If you add an aux fan performance of the a/c as well as the collant temp drastically improves when idling or in stop and go traffic. I never did get my fan reprogrammed so that might have the same effect, I can't say.
