Today one of my sports idols retired...He was Captain of the Red Wings since 1986, he won 3 Stanley Cups. He leaves the game the 6 th leading scorer of all time. Played his whole career with the same team, 22 years ! Gave everything and was unselfish to the end. Made every player that played with him better. Today is very sad for me on a personal level...

My good friend Begood sent me his authentic jersey a few months ago... I am talking about Steve Yzerman # 19. IMHO the best player to ever lace up a pair of Hockey skates.....I have many fond memories that I will cheerish forever...I know alot of you guys don't care either way..But it's something I needed to get off my chest...I was born a Red Wing fan and I Love Hockey !

Thank You Stevie Y and thank you Billy from the bottom of my heart :D There will never be another like you again

Even as an Avalanche fan, I gotta give a big ol' round of applause to Stevie Y.
Great guy, on and off the ice. Detroit was lucky to have him for so long. One of the few hockey icons.

Good luck in the future, Stevie!

Do the AV's play football??

I thought you were born a asshole, not a Redwings fan. :dontknow: Damn, something else your mom did not tell me.;) :D :p

Actually when you think about it 22 years, in any professional sport is a very long time. Some have a career of just a year or two. May he enjoy his well deserved retirement.

Yes it is a sad day. We here in the Detroit area have been dealing with this for the last 3 years, Each of these years Steve has been trying to pick just when he would retire. We knew it was going very soon. It just won't be the same team without him. Mike I know you will always wear the jersey with pride.

Bill.
