Today one of my sports idols retired...He was Captain of the Red Wings since 1986, he won 3 Stanley Cups. He leaves the game the 6 th leading scorer of all time. Played his whole career with the same team, 22 years ! Gave everything and was unselfish to the end. Made every player that played with him better. Today is very sad for me on a personal level...

My good friend Begood sent me his authentic jersey a few months ago... I am talking about Steve Yzerman # 19. IMHO the best player to ever lace up a pair of Hockey skates.....I have many fond memories that I will cheerish forever...I know alot of you guys don't care either way..But it's something I needed to get off my chest...I was born a Red Wing fan and I Love Hockey !

Thank You Stevie Y and thank you Billy from the bottom of my heart :D There will never be another like you again

common now yzerman is not the best player ever,, he may be in the top few .. but not best.. #99 was the best ever....

I hate to break anyone's heart, but there is no contest....Gordie Howe was, and will always be the greatest to ever play the game. Yes Stevie Y was a great player, and the longest serving captain on one team. And yes Gretsky beat most of Howe's records. But Gretsky had protection (re: enforcers), Howe was his own enforcer. And by the way, hockey was a bit rougher in the 50s and 60s, than it was in the 80s.

End of story!!!

Bill.
