I will admit that I am an anomaly on the forum. I love my truck beyond anything other than my two boys, but has anyone other than me looked into a possible electric car for commuting purposes? I really am not one that complains about the gas prices because I can afford a twice a week fillup for about $70+ and I love the acceleration a V10 gives me.

I've been doing some research on electric cars and came across some thing Lotus is doing.

http://www.zapworld.com/

I have been searching for an environmentally friendly car to commute in and drive the SRT10 at all other times. At heart I am a tree hugger but my truck is something I can not give up. Is there anyone else out there that is as conflicted as I am:dontknow:

Most high performance electric cars are pretty costly, but this one seems to have a nice balance.

I'll try to provide some links later at some of the very spendy electric cars I have looked at. Most of them are over $120K and are only available over seas or in California.

Let's not try to bash the tree hugger to much on this one. I'm just trying to find better ways to drive my srt:) wasting miles commuting to the office is such a waste of its performance. It kills me to sit in bumper to bumper DC traffic:( This truck is not well suited to go 10 miles per hour for 20 miles to get to my office.

Hey dude I live in Califonia and those electric cars are a bigger pollutant than PCP's

1) How do you dispose of the batteries?? Ever price new ones??:dontknow:

2) Do you know batteries contain tocxic materials???:p

3) The generating plant that provides the juice to recharge it expelles more pollutants than 1000 diesel trucks every time you plug in!!

4) It would be more effecient to chop down trees to fire a boiler in a steam locomotive or a Stanley Steamer    :D :D :D

5) Even a hybred still burns diesel fuel....Cough Cough:mad:

6) What the hell good will it do any way, China has 100,000,000,000
two srtoke mopeds and adding more

7) Can you fit into a rollerskate on wheels???:2in1: :2in1:

8) Buy a Dam Flintstone Mobile You Can Push It To Work and Get Rid Of Your Beer Belly

Thanks for the input.

1. the batteries are environmentally friendly and I am at a point in my life where price does not matter all that much.

2. Not the ones in this ride, but I do understand that some batteries are not so good.

3. Well that might be true, but depending on where you live electic might not be generated with such high pollutants.

4. Not so sure about that one. I do have a ton of oak trees on my property though:)

5. The electric I am looking at does not burn any fossil fuels at all.

6. I'm not so worried about the 10 gaggion chinese riding there mopeds. It is a personal thing.

7. The one I am looking at is not a skateboard on wheels, but I do know what you are talking about. Most electrics come with a shoe horn to get in. I did have a prowler at one time and gave it up because I got tired of having to crawl out of it everyday.

8. Now that is some good advice, but my beer belly is not too big yet and I'll ust try to work it off at the gym or with the wife :D

+1 for the Telsa. Chassis and mechanicals are based off the Lotus Elise, and it will outrun an SRT:eek: I believe they are around $90k, though.

I heard on the news that the air quality in most of the U.S. is better than it was 30 years ago. So all my suspicions of Al Gore's B.S. are suported by these findings. Plus we planted 17 acres of pine trees which leaves about 8 acres open and 32 acres in trees. I have never hugged any of them but they are renewable. So go buy a second SRT to drive, plant some trees and quit worrying about global warming. Be worried about imports from China taking our jobs and illegal aliens using up our tax dollars.

I priced one out. About $100K which isn't too bad and it is delivered in June of 2008.

The Elise is a effin great two seater. Lotus knows how to build a roadster.

I've heard all that too, but it is all relevant. We are still number one in pollutants and yes I know China is going to over take us very soon. One would think the country that invented to ultimate bomb could invent the fuel source :dontknow: Being fuel independent would cure a lot of our ills in the world.

I think it is admirable what you have done with your plantings. I only have an acre and a half and have twelve huge oak trees. Just doing a little.

As far a China goes don't buy their crap. If I have a choice I would buy American over Chinese any time. The American quality is so much better. As far as Mexicans taking our jobs and tax dollars, most (not all) the jobs they fill are ones that Americans don't want to do. I by no means support illegals in our great country.

I did some research and my truck was assembled in Mexico. Dodge and other companies are exporting our jobs for cheaper labor.
