I was wondering if anyone here thought of using Royal Purple as their oil. Would there be negative consequences to using it?:dontknow: C'mon, I know you SRT pros are itching to answer this one.

I tried it in the SS.Nothing good or bad.I use Mobil 1 now in both.I figure if it good for a bunch of race teams it is good enough for me.

why change from something that is proven time and time again. Stick with the Mobil 1. Royal Purple is basically colored oil. Not that it is bad just not as good as mobil 1. Non of the synthetic oils out there are TOTALLY synthetic. You have to start with a hydorcarbon string of molecules and restructure them. this is were "synthetic" comes in.

Ok heres my dip on oil, and boy this can start a storm brother!!LOLOL:D

number one, you either make hp, and change often .

you go quality and change not so often.

go in the middle and stay nueltral

I , on bikes tried thousands of different angles. These are my findings so far.

Mobil 1 0-30 makes the best power and longevity.

Royal purpal makes killer power by maybe 2-3hp, but you better change it often , the additives let it brake down quicker.

Red line also makes a great hp oil.

The thinner you go (oh and must be synthetic) the more power, but the more frequent oil change.

If you want all out hp from oil , the tranny , engine , and rear, must be sythetc and lightwieght. In some magazine article they changed everything over to royal P and made 10hp at the ground on a chevy dually, plus added fuel mileage.

If you check out some of the manufactures sites, they have racing oil with super slick additives that make more hp, BUT its ultra expensive, and dont last.

On my bikes I ran Royal P but had to change it every weekend , it would break down.
Ran mobil and if I forgot, I could run it 2-3 before it would and only make about 2hp difference.

thats my take, and my experience, I like mobil , for all around it makes hp and last longer. oh and I use 5-30 in everything....................including the mazda!LOLOLOLOLOL:D

Okay so I gather that I should maintain my loyalty to the M1 brand I've been using since my first car (1986 IROC-Z). That's about 16 years of no complaints. I had to ask because I got a buddy who constantly tries to convince my switch to Royal Purple. But the minuscule HP increase with RP doesn't quite justify the increased oil change frequency. I better stick with what the oil cap specifies. M1, as it will remain.
