I have been fighting a miss in my Cobra since the first of the year.

I hate electrical problems with a passion. I replaced every component of the ignition system with the exception of the ignition switch. Still missed. I rewired the system again this morning and it still missed. I was ready to give the car away.

A couple weeks ago when I was talking to Jack (FSTJACK) on the phone, he mentioned the alternator as a possible cause. So today I pulled of the fan belt and guess what, it didn't miss. Replaced the alternator and then it missed again. Replaced the voltage regulator and presto, the miss is gone.

I probably spent close to $1000.00 replacing the ignition system and it ends up being a $32.00 regulator.

With out Jack's input I probably would have just given up and had it towed someplace to figure it out.

Jack is a wise man and many would do well to listen to him.

Thank you my friend.

John,

Thank you for the kudos.

I know how frustrating ignition/electrical problems can be.

I had a vehicle in my shop years ago that had the same problem, and it took me a long time to track it down.

Sometimes you just have to hold your mouth right................

If it ever stops raining in the festering homeland (hehehe), you can drive your hotrod and enjoy it.

The cars/trucks that we love so much can turn to frustration in a heartbeat.

When they don't work correctly I hate it, and when it is running like it should, you can't get the smile off my face.

Only car folks can have a spiritual experiance over having to buy a 32.00
part......:elefant: :elefant: :elefant:

Now you can get on with the next upgrade..........

That's exactly what she said!

John, I had a post deleted last night from your thread here. I just want you to know that it was done in fun. Not in spite. So if I offended you (which would be very hard to do IMO) I'm SORRY. Have a great day. Please don't delete this Jack.

I wasn't offended Eric.

The thing that had me confused was it was an electrical problem that showed up in the ignition. It wasn't like it was a charging issue with the battery going dead.

Oh well. It's solved, and I learned something.

Now I just need to sell that spare engine I have sitting in the garage.

Kudos to Silverback

Why would he :dontknow:

I don't know what Jack knows about cars other then he has been around them all his life and drag raced anything that has wheels on it since he invented the wheel just after he created dirt. But I know this about the man and I want to under score the implied connotation. Jack is Fkn Yoda and all you betta recognize....Screw the cars he is also brilliant on so many other levels. We have had 8 hour phone calls that have blown my mind and in many respects helped change my life. I have always considered him a father figure and I Love the Jackass with all I am. So I don't know if Silverback was doing it on purpose but I got a different message outta his post....Seems it was glossed over by some but not lost on me. Jack O Donnell is a great man....Gotta ridiculous temper LOLOOL But a heart almost as big as my left testicle ;) :D Hehehehe....Jack you are the greatest my brother...Much Love and if you delete the testicle part I will put you on the dreaded circle of animal porn texts that Joey Mags raves about :D
