so i finally decided to search why my ac was not blowing hard {been that way since i bought the truck 1 year ago} and i came across the recirculation door problem. sure enough took the ac motor down and the recirculation door was laying on it. took the door out no problem and damn now my air blows 1000% better. i do notice that the passenger side vents are not as cold as the drivers side but at least it blows hard and is cool. i guess thats another problem ima have to find unless someone here can enlighten me id appreciate it:). because of my back issues i really cant do the work to pull out the dash and so on to replace the recirculation door and my hand is just to big to try and do it with out taking the dash out.

so my question is where is the vent/air dam/etc what ever its called on the outside of the truck located where the fresh air comes in and can i block that entry so i can have permanent recirculation ac in the truck? sorry if i dont make any sense lol and for being long winded.

It's allowing vent and recirculation air to mix. Until you can ge the door replaced you can use a strong tape to hold the door into the recirculation position. I drive my truck rarely and did this this summer and it was much better. I still plan on replacing the door but am told it requires a lot to be removed to get to it.

I don't recommend tape being your permanent solution obviously but until you or a mechanic can fix it for ya it will tide you over.

yeah we rather have the recirculation air only {door closed}. so you tape your door back up into the closed position? also would you happen to know where the exterior vent is, the vent that brings the fresh air into the truck for the ac?

I think where wipers are near center

I will say I believe you will have better air flow by just taping the inner door to the recirculate position. Otherwise I think the fan will be blowing back towards the vent area some losing some flow. That inner door is very easy to temp fix as well.

thanks

im not sure if our trucks are like the 2nd generation truck but if they are the same then its an easy fix by removing the vacume canister linkage rod that connects to the door and use a panduit aka tie wrap or safety wire it so only fresh air is being drawn in

thanks for the help guys. i tried taping the back up and it worked great for a few day then the door fell again lol. so i opened the dash up as much as i could just so i could wiggle in the and screw the door in. i bolted that bad boy shut and its working great and that door aint falling again lol. im fine with it permanently shut.

As far as the passenger side not blowing as cold as the driverside blows. This tip comes from my wife. Keep in mind I live in Florida. Do not put the air on max as soon as u start the truck. Leave it on low for the first 5 minutes. Also try setting the passenger side mixer lever one or two positions from max cool. This works for her like night and day difference.

Good tip. Some vehicles with auto temp control do this for you. Same also works for the heater. Let the temp gauge move a little before turning the fan on so you don't get blasted with cold air. Running a slow fan speed also results in hotter/colder air from the vents. The air has more time in the core to change temperature.
I also found a few extra ounces of freon helps.

Mine also blew warmer on the passenger side since the day I drove it off the dealer lot. Took it back twice and no problem found although dealer confirmed it was warmer on the passenger side but basically said they all do that to some degree. Interestingly enough I noticed it would blow cold on a long down hill with high vacuum. Ended up taking it to a AC specialists. He knew exactly what it was stating he'd had doz of Dodge PU's in with the same issue. Some worse some better than others.

Basically, he stated the freon from the factory was a bit low. While according to spec's it was correct but he said adding a bit more would fix it. Sure enough...mine has been blowing cold on both sides for over 100K miles.
