AC130 Angel fire

That's cool! I have seen it in real life, very impressive!!

Awesome plane! They mounted Howitzers in the rear doors! Wow!!

OOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!! AAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! (like watching fireworks, get it ?)

Military stuff, very cool.

That's awesome. I've seen it in person. Always thought the poor sob on the other side was probably wetting there pants....Hahahahaaa!!:D

I was lucky enough to see one of those live and in person.

Bill.

yeah.... as I left my position at Boeing a few years back, there was a project going on to retrofit 130's with jet engines... I worked at the C17 plant in Long Beach... their flare/chaff deployment mech is basically the same but the plane is a LOT more impressive...:D

btw, I doubt that was a c130 dropping bombs... the C means it's a carrier ... I could be wrong though... as someone else mentioned they have retrofitted some of these 130's with big guns :) REAL big guns heh

Hey Fellas,

Just want to make a few corrections if I may since I'm currently an AC-130 Gunner. The aircraft in the first video was a slick C-130 not an AC. Notice the lack of guns sticking out the left side of the airplane. The HUD video footage is from attack helicopters, not gunships.

I just got home from my last deployment mon. morning. The crew replacing mine got to have all of the "fun" a couple days ago. Bastards LOL

We currently have a 25mm gatling gun (not the 20mm that the news always reports  ), a 40mm Bofors cannon, and a 105 field artillary howitzer cannon. The 40 and 25 are being replaced soon with twin 30mm Bushmasters. I have to attend a class next week to get spun up on the gun as initial cadre for instructing the gunners.

those classes are a REAL drag.. I gad to go through lots of airforce training ... for example... I think egress class was 2 weeks.. basically you coulda summed it into this :: here's the doors, here's how you open them, now get the F OUT.... the only cool thing I learned was how the ramp worked (there's a switch that drops the ramp bypassing the hydralics) that's kinda neat...

Also the FEDS (flotation equipment deployment system) is neat too.. they basically have (class 2?) explosives that blow holes in the plane then launch a buncha rafts...

some ass monkey mechanic pulled the feds once... needless to say they walked him out(probably took him to court too)... I saw some crazy shit working there... probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen was one guy through a 10mm wrench into the engine zip... burned up right through the engine LOL...

I also worked on JSF<palmdale>apache longbow<mesa AZ>, the deltas<huntington beach> and a few project in St. Louis (which is where they build the fighters...

cheers:)

All I know is my plane and the C-130 use the same engines....other than that, the pictures are really kool!:D

Yeah that first video was pretty and all but there was not enough lethality involved. Flares don't kill bad guys, AC-130s and A-10s do.

Were you in OIF or OEF? Either way glad you made it back.

Years ago the 130 became a hero in my life...we called them spooky and spector in those days...with spooky or spector on station, there was nothing to fear.
