Accusump Install

Does anyone have pictures of their install?

I'd be interested also. I know there's been some bad blood about them, but it seems centered around the EPC valve option, not the units themselves, so I was considering installing one soon.

I think the epc valve is what was draining breaking and then draining everyones oil...

I spoke to them in length and they are now using a 175psi valve vs the 80psi valve they previously used. Aparently they learned that during oil pressure spikes, the valve would blow.

Here is a quote from there installation manual on circumstances that would cause the electronic pressure valve to leak.

"Blow off Valve
If the blow off valve is allowing oil to escape, it is an indication that the unit has been set-up incorrectly. The blow off
valve is rated at 175 psi. and it is rare that they fail. Check your installation instructions and reset your pre-charge.
Under no circumstances should you replace the safety valve with a plug.
Reasons For a Leaky Blow-Off Valve
1) Pre-charge set incorrectly, instructions not followed, review the "Setting the Pre-Charge" section of this manual
on page #5.
2) An air leak is causing the unit to lose it’s pre-charge and become hydraulically locked.
3) Blow-off valve needs tightening or teflon tape to seal.
4) The Accusump™ tube is dented or bent in a way to keep the piston from moving.
5) Contamination is caught in the blow-off valve from previous purging causing a small drip leak.
6) The unit is mounted in a way that twists or distorts the tube that would keep the piston from moving.
7) The unit is mounted next to a high heat source, causing the oil to expand greatly while the valve is closed.
8) The engine system pressure exceeds 175 psi.
9) Defective safety valve, send to the factory to be checked. (very rare)"

Now, I need some pictures please!

Perhaps it's a QA/QC issue, or installation issue, but some folks love them...

Those that do have them installed - any pics???

Do a forum search for accusump, or ask "cardude" how good they work.

Great idea and design, piss poor quality.

"sorry we blew your motor, were not paying..."

I think they are too many variables as to what may have caused the failure. Was it a defect in the valve itself or did something contribute to the valve's failure?

I think we should also use a warning light that flashes once the oil pressure goes below a certain level. Very likely that would have saved quite a few motors

Maybe the electronic pressure solenoid can be used to activate a warning indicator.

at the min. of 20 p.s.i.

You almost need a low level switch with this as low pressure is too late.

Cardude's exceptions were that the valve failed and his engine blew. If they fixed it then you are golden. If not we will wait a lot longer then we already have for another engine build! ;)

You don't NEED this thing buddy. Start it up let it idle of a moment and go, poor it on when the temp comes up.

Thanks for the advice Jay. Maybe I will just use it with a manual valve for start ups only. I know some have it on their trucks and have had no issues.

Yeah a lot of people use it, and it sounds like they've fixed their problems. But they killed our friends engine and didn't cover it......

Maybe cardude could've stopped earlier but if i remember he was in death valley or something.
