Hello all,

Im new to the forum and have a few questions on my future purchase. Hopefully you fellas can help me out. Im in the market for an srt10 and am having a hard time deciding between the qc and the reg cab. I drove an 06 night runner last week and I was hooked immediatly if ya know what i mean. I love the looks and extra room of the qc but can't come to grips with the auto tranny. If any of you guys could do it again which would you pick. Is the qc much slower than the rc? Any input would be a great help on the future puchase!! Also, should i go with an 05 or 06, kinda like the new headlight look on the 06's. Thanx fellas!......happy holidays

Welcome!

I personally like the RC's and I like the 05's. I also like Red. I have an 04 and besides the fact that it was the first year made, I would rather have an 05 for some of the upgrades. I also prefer interior of the 04, 05's better than the 06.

The 06 probably has more upgrades. The boys will chime in on all that. :D

Good luck on your decision :star:

If I could do it again. I would Keep Mine

Man, your in trouble.....

All those questions can only be answered by one person.....YOU.

If your going to spend 50k on mods like Nowwhat, speed won't be the question

So it comes down to traveling with your best friend or a group of them :D

Your choice

Go for the 05 QC and make it RED

welcome, I like the RC, But to each there own. A little more sporty i guess.

If you need room for family and friends, especially on trips, I recommend the QC. I have the RC and it serves my needs. Shifting is fun as hell on the RC's too :D

You can always get both like DJ did. lol
Supposively, a stock QC is about .5 secs slower than a stock RC in the 1/4 mile....about 450 lbs heavier and (my guess) about 20-25 more ponies lost in the auto drivetrain over the RC. My first dyno I did at Roe with NBT there, with similar mods, he had me beat by about 20 ponies on the dyno with his RC. However around town and Roe's track, we were about the same at that time. I would launch better than his RC but he would make up the ground shortly. That's about my best comparison of the two (likely modded). Then there was the Nats, and others can chime in, but it looked like the QCs were again launching better, times were close, other than those who missed 3rd. lol

I have 3 boys, so I need the rear seats, plus I shuttle around Ho's at times.

(It was fun going down the track with 6 people in the truck, yelling out the windows and still beating up on a Chevy truck.)

I believe there is one guy on here that has modded his QC to have a stick.

Gear Venders also has a under/over drive system with a floor foot shifter for the QC. If I had more time at Suncoast, I was going to put that in. Later mod for now.

I'm still waiting for the local track to open up, so I can see what the new tranny and converter is doing for me.

It is really up to you. If I was single without kids, I would go with the RC (plus it was about 5K cheaper).

I drove both and the QC felt just as fast to me. I ran several 13.5's 100% stock the first day at the track. Most RC's if they can drive good are only gonna be maybe a couple tenths quicker. Not near worth losing the option of the back seat IMO. But, I will say if I didnt have a family it would have been hard to not get a RC. If they are close to the same money you get much more truck with the QC.

Ive been driving our QC around for the last week or so, and man they are two totally different animals!

the QC is for family, plenty of room ,but also plenty of hp, and out the gate at the track the QC's are gonna be quicker , they are easier to launch.
the QC is refined, you can cruise around and get groceries, and then lay a 100ft black mark leaving the parking lot.

The RC seems more sporty, more like a performance vechicle, its rough, rides rough, handles twitchy, but it has the 6 spd, and to me that makes a ton of difference.

The 06 interiour is just not for me.

How much tweaking have you done to the QC, Stinker?

I think Stinker summed it up pretty well!

QC is probably a little better suited for heavy towing and hauling crap too.

Most people hit on the major points already. But think about the future. Planning on kids anytime soon? Or like to go on road trips with your friends? things like that might sway you towards the QC. Really it is up to you as long as you get a silver one (cause ther are they fastest) and keep the wing on. Only weirdo's lose the wing.

They are both awesome trucks. You'll get just as many stares in each. So, it's your pick.
One bit of advice though. No matter which you end up with, if you plan to do much hauling or towing, pick up an old beater for a couple grand (any brand will do). Can you imagine your SRT sitting in a marina parking lot having trailers dragged down the side while you're out on the water?

05 QC-just my 2 cents far more usable and I have a 06 cummins and I hate the interior.

Where are you from bud?

jrgnd,
I'm in New Kent, VA (about 40 miles East of Richmond).
I like the CalVu's in your pic.
Do they function well with the factory controls?

Yep...Contact Boomer...I am moving to VA Beach Friday...We should try meeting up in Petersburg for some dragging when it open's up again...

Major selling point for me!

I traded my '99 Lightning on the SRT. I would've loved a Lightning w/ a 6 speed too!:burnout:

Both turn heads all day.... and run hard.

If I had to do it all over again... I would be in the same truck... Loved it from day one....still love the hell out of it now.

I HAD to have the 6 speed as Hamrhead did.

Good luck on the choice...and have fun:burnout:

Had to have the 6 speed also. The RC was going to be my sports car and I wanted to row through the gears as such. Since I can't fit into any of the cool cars many of the members have (jealous :( ), I had to go with the next best thing. Good luck with your decision. You really can't go wrong either way. :D

Thanx for all the input guys! I still am having a hard time choosing between the 2 trucks. I have an 04 skeeter bass boat and i know at some point this summer if i get the qc, i'll be towin the boat no matter how hard i try to avoid it on the weekends.. I geuss i'll just have to take a serious rip in a qc to finalize my decision!! By the way, why do people give you so much BS when you tell them about buying an srt10 ram....? Especially family members... I think it's just a tad of jealously..lol . What i always get is "what the hell do you need that for". My opinion is you only live once so enjoy it. Anyway thanks for your input and i'll post some pics when i bring her home!!! I can't frickin wait!
