So I get called into work early this morning, no biggie I was up anyways, just a typical Monday... I go out to start the truck and get that "clack-clack-clack" of a dead battery trying to start a 505ci v10. It was a nice morning though, so I just I just pushed her out of the parking lot and used the down hill ramp going to the road to start-er up. As soon as I got it started I notice that the passenger overhead light is on(GF had the keys last), but it wont shut off. I pried the light cover off and took the bulb out; I could see the switch was stuck. Cool, now I have a reason to paint the overhead cluster.

As I am pulling up to the first light a nice little grxr pulls up next to me. Without so much as a glance at each other we launched off the green light, I slam 1st to 2nd without letting off... I glance to the left and see the bike falling back, the dead battery is now long forgiven. As I push the clutch to hit 3rd I feel the clutch pedal snap loose, the other foot still has the gas firmly planted to the floor so I instantly hit the rev limiter and slam my self forward into the steering wheel and watch the biker fly by me. I guess that’s karmas way of telling me not to street race. I continued rolling down the road and just started shifting w/o the clutch, as it was stuck flat to the floor. I knew as soon as I got to work I could park it there till I got the parts. I roll up to the first red light and stall the truck out, as soon as the light changes I go to restart the truck to take off, the master cylinder had broken out of the firewall mount so I couldn't get the clutch switch to trip. So at the light with cars behind me I jump out lay down under the dash, and used a piece of my wire from my shift light (that I now need to re-install) as a jumper. I jump back in and hit the start button and take off. Now, of course, I catch the following light red. It changes green, I press the button, this time i just get "clack-clack-clack" ahhhh... dead battery.

I finally admit failure and decide to call for a tow; unfortunately my phone is sitting at home on the counter...

After 20 mins of waiting for someone to stop (which I always do when I see someone at 6 in the morning) I get pissed and decide I am just going to push the damn thing while I hold down the start button and see if I get her to move. The light changed green I started pushing, and all it took was about three feet and the truck took off, I made a mad dive and some how got in. The rest of the way in I never had to stop...

Btw people with the viper master cylinder may want to periodically check that the master cylinder hasn.t started to twist out of the mount, thats how mine came out I think. It's easy to stick back in but mine broke the reservoir hose connection when it came loose...

...it's not that easy

Today the master cylinder I ordered got here, and although it's close, it isn't the right one. The arm that connect to the clutch pedal is to long. I called the dealer and found out that the one I ordered off the 05' viper (p/n-4642666-af) was not the one I had, I needed one off a '97 viper(p/n-04642666). Two problems; the one for the '05 is $70.16, the one for the '97 is $225.16 and they couldn't get it for 3-5 days. the only other quotes I had got were all over 400$$, BS!!!!!! So I decided I would disassemble the old one and see if I could change the rods out. Ten min and a box of parts later and I had a working master cylinder. All that was left was to re-bleed it and go to lunch.

If you have a welder you can modify a '05 viper master cylinder so the clutch pedal is the correct height, even if you get the '97 one you need washers or a spacer to make the pedal the correct length. If you cut and weld the '05 you can make it the correct length and save your self some $$$.
