Just got my KN drop in filter today any gains by using a hole saw and opening the front facing the grill area. Thanks, Bud

If you do cut an extra hole, run a hose from it so you get cool air outside the engine compartment.

Yeah, outside the engine/bay:

The previous owner of mine had cut a hole in the front of the factory box and ran a tube to the grill, only after cutting a hole in that black piece behind my honeycomb. I will post some pics tonight:burnout:

Does rain and water enter the intake? That could be bad if it gets in the intake...

NO!! Simple as that. I have driven in monsoon rain here and i have checked to make sure. The inside of the airbox was completly DRY!

Ok I've heard enough about "dry" washing, How in the hell is this done???

Lately, the only thing I "wash" is the wheels.

I'll usually wash the wheels and fenderwells first (with minimal water-over-spray to the body), let all that dry then apply tire dressing. I'll also apply some Stoner's Trim Shine to the inner fender wells.
Next, I'll touch up the glass with glass cleaner.
Then, I'll dust the entire truck off with the California Car Duster.
Finally, I'll go over the entire truck with speed detailer and finish up in the engine bay (with the same speed detailer).

"Washing" it this way seems to take half as long as a traditional wash. The truck has to be pretty clean to begin with. I wouldn't do this after a road trip or after driven in the rain.

 ...One two/gal. buckett, change water often, (I use it to water the planters. NO WASTE!) one chamois :D
Useually takes about an 1/2-hr. as many as 2-3/bucketts of water, depending on the amount of beach DUST.......
