Seems like someone was going to put air suspension on their truck...but a search did not raise a thread...

Who was that? How did it go?

Hot Rod Magazine has an article on it (January Issue) and with its infinite number of adjustments it may be a good tuning approach to helping us get some traction while achieveing the stance we want for the highway and cruz-ins.

Anyone have experience in doing it? How about it Boomer...is this the next step for you (us)?

Dat be me
What I said was it had been done but wheels and tires may have to be changed to F&R so I wouldnt do it to mine and everything else I own is bagged . I have done bags for about 10 years and yes you can set up a system that handles very well and with the advent of adding 2 way adjustable shocks that helps even more . Now if you were thinking of not useing the lowering factor it prob could be done . Now since the rear springs are stiffer than shit the only way to change anything in the back would be to go to a full 4-link w/panard or triangulated 4 -link . I would have to lay under there for a bit and see what all would have to be relocated if anything . I think on something like this and being some of the late frames are thinner and tend to twist with the torque applied in a manner not thought of by the engineers <G> so think I would go 4 link off a crossmember as outboard as I could go .There are a few other issues which could arise but thats my thoughts

Thanks Mike, I really appreciate your input. Just trying to think out-of-box to get to where I need to be...fstjack went with 4 link w/Koni coil over double adjustable shocks and while I don't think he has run it yet, the pictures are awesome...maybe that is the trick setup.

Again thanks...this process requires more research and thought than most understand.

Just read that Jim Neuenfeldt of Omaha averaged 11.0004 at the pump gas drags on street radials in his '03 Silverado...anyone know what kind of rear suspension he was running? He is running twin turbos...that put down 1008 rwhp...What are the Lightenings doing to get traction on street tires?

He also is running 4wd. The last time I saw that truck there was not a lot of suspension work on it, but that was 2 years ago.

He has an incredible record...two years in a row winning in two different divisions. Obviously he knows what he is doing.

If I get the time and freedom I may start to work up some suspension ideas on the SRT but normally peskey customers get in the way of playing ,O'well they do bring wads of money to me ,damn the trade offs in life
I am thinking of a longer bar than standard
Ok main problem is getting most of the 6000# to the back wheels ,which this truck does not do . The rake is ok but with the ass being so hard (no comment sicko) it will not squat so in turn doesn't transfer the weight . Has anyone tried pulling a leaf or two out of the spring pac to get the truck to transfer . Now keep in mind I have not messed with these trucks for very long but have been building shit since I was 14 and I'm ,,,,well an AARP memeber now so most of this is just theory coming off the top of my head .
I forgot to add that yes suspension entails a lot of thought and math not just what will bolt on and if someone doesn't understand this stuff ,save your life and let someone who does

Most of the late GM's I do believe have a 3 link type coil spring set up .

Lowering

When I do lower the rear of my truck I planned on removing at least one leaf to improve the ride and the weight transfer. I already have the kit, just have not had the time.
