dammmmm buddy - sorry to hear about this,... just another reason i dont go to best buy

I went to a well known local car stereo shop to have my viper smartstart alarm put in. I knew the guy that did the install and this particular installer has been installing alarms for over 20 years. I didn't want any new kid just hired installing anything in my truck. I know there probably are some good BB installers out there, but knowing my luck, they would not be working on my truck. My installer did say that it was a bitch to get it working correctly.

man ...i called the dealer and they said they have no parts in stock for the truck....what fucking luck i have.....all i wanted was remote start....lol

Aftermarket alarms/remote starts are a nightmare. I've seen soooo many issues with cobbled-up installs that have literally RUINED cars. Whole wiring harnesses needed to be replaced in some cases. I would never, EVER, put a aftermarket device like that on my car.

I did car audio and alarms for 12 years. Not once messed up a car. There are proper ways to check for the correct wires.
These days they have printouts to follow. I am guessing something was wrong or they just tagged the wrong wire and smoked something because they didn't check it before connecting it. There is no excuse for damaging a vehicle.
Seems like they are owning up to doing something wrong. Thats good. The tech knows he did something wrong, and probably knows exactly what that was.
Hope they get it corrected for you.

that sucks man. I know u dont want to hear it but thats why u dont take it to places like that. My buddy works at Future Shop and installs sound systems and alarms/remote starters...was going to give me a smoking deal but he never touched our type of trucks before. So i called around and found a shop that had done a viper and a srt-10 ram. Got the alarm and remote starter installed in about 9-10 hours.
