What is with all these brand new, way overpriced, Furd Mustangs?

Saleens (50-60K+), GT500 (going for 15K over MSRP 55K+), Roush (overpriced body kit cars) (40K+), Shelby editions (Hertz, etc..), Ronaele built (50-60K+), Foose edition (50K+).

I am sure this will offend some but why are people stupid enough to spend big bucks on these cars they think will be worth some money later. Back in the day there was something special about the Mustang GT500, but now they are being mass produced and they are tons of "special" mustang. The SRT-10 truck is very limited in comparision to most of these "special" editions. One of the special editions that killed me was the Cobra R they produced in 2000 with 385 hp then a year or two later produced a regular Cobra with 400 hp. I think Ford will do anything to make money right now, even if that is going to end up making all these special editions worthless.

But I also could be crazy....:marchmellow:

i think the old (60`s) shellbys were the only ones that were a true SPECIAL car.they can bring some major jack in the auctios.but yea, your right these new MASS PRODUCED cars will not be worth what they paid for them the second it leaves the STEALERSHIP.

I will probably catch some flack for this, but what the hell.

I really hate seening DC applying the HEMI badge to everything. The original HEMI's were rare and lusted after. Anyone can buy a HEMI today. They should have reserved the name for those cars that deserved it.

All the marketing department did was prostitute themselves for the sake of making money and destroyed an image.

SAD.:( :( :( :( :(

You are right as well. But they aren't special editions and they are not going for huge money over MSRP. They are all trying to capitalize on the days of yore. They only thing they are really doing is driving up the price of the classics while destorying the value of these new "special" cars. I am aware that there are the SRT-8 "special" cars that are certainly not true to the original form...a 4 door Charger automatic. But I see they are trying to market to the same buyers that loved the old car, but need something more practical now. That's why I love the Viper and the Viper truck...completely impractical and useless :D .

The Cobra R's are about the only ones that attract me.
In '93 they built 107 R's.
In '95 - 250 R's.
In 2000 - 300 R's.

Super-Rare, Super-Cool, FACTORY high-performance Mustangs, built specifically for racing, that someday will be collectable, IMO:) .

The rest of them are just 'Mustangs'....:dontknow:

I actually had money and on a waiting list for a gt500 before they came out. The no good dealers tried to up the price by $10000  when it came in. what an a@#$%le. Much happier with my truck:rock:
