another crash of kids racing

For this reason, I'm honored to take the copious amounts of shit that I receive here about my outspoken opposition to street racing.

God bless the families.............

Please, don't street race....:(

MORE than 20 years James. Racing has been going on at Rankin Rd. on the northside at LEAST since the late 70's (that I know of)... And they still race there no matter how many times the cops come around and bust things up.

This terrible tragedy also provides another message. At any and every opportunity hug your children, brothers and sisters; mothers and fathers and let them know you love them because we NEVER KNOW when it is their time or ours. Those scum bag racers that took this girl's life are likely still breathing while she lay in her grave with her family grief stricken. That could be my daughter laying in her grave. I could get a call today with that same bad news because two dumb asses decided to senselessly show their balls to one another. This is pissing me the EFF off and I am 135% with Tim on being against street racing. Preech on Tim because really no one can argue with your logic on the matter.

im a firm believer in street racing but i can see both sides of the fence the side that says its ok is cause its what started hot rodding..with out street racing who know how cars or we as people on this forum...no its not 100% correct but its our history our fathers an there fathers raced on the street......BUT there is a time an a place most of these street racing accidents.....arent just street racing i think the media jumps on the "street racing" thing....because another drunk driving accident is just another drunk story dosent make there paper or news channel stand out agenst the other....plus i think racing on .the. street is safer than driving down I35 in texas traffic flows at an easy 80-90 mph tailgating lane switching..an what not.....i mean yall can flame me all you want but i hope that most of you can see that most of these accidents arent just street racing.....an also i believe in god an i believe when its my time to go then that was my time to go....again flame me if you want put me on your ingore list i dont care...just my .02 cents

...street racing in Houston has got out of hand lately, Friday night I went out down I-45, then started running around 610. I got passed by no short of 10 sets of cars racing, not on clear stretches of road, I am talking 120+ in and out traffic, using the shoulder, and cutting down exits to pass people. Btw that was one of three major racing wrecks in the past two weeks.

The problem is noone wants to go out to Baytown to pay $20 and only have time to make 2-3 passes, Hmp isn't any better... People have stopped going because we caught on to the cops little game when you pull out, they sit there and if you have anything wrong(me and my uncle had no front plates) you get stoppped and seached with the drug dog, which is nothing more than a waste of about 2 hours, then they write you a ticket, all while your with in a 100yrds of the track. Even then that was fine until cops started blocking the road to cherry hill (huricane caused), now instead of haveing a back road with no side traffic you get people racing on major roads.... WTFG HPD!!!

To race around in traffic is just plain stupid, too many unpredictables, the track is predictable,I like life, no race worth dying over...

I can see how street racing is on the rise due to all of that. I certainly wouldn't want to drive all the way to Baytown, pay 20 bucks, do MAYBE 2 passes, then get pulled over by a police sting on my way home. I think more tracks need to open up around town and not charge so much. If I had some land and the front cash I would be interested in opening a track in Houston. I think Ironhead has the same idea.

Most excellent. Then when you're done and let us know what the results are I will have an idea on what it takes to have one constructed for public use.

a LOT is involved from what I've read. Permits out the yin yang just to get property.. noise ordinances, only so many races per year, incurance, etc. My best friend's uncle owns some property out in the boonies but I haven't had a chance to pull zoning on it to find out if we can use his property for a "race track." One big problem I might run into is that there is a huge golf course within a mile or two of the property :dontknow:

More tracks wouldn't take car of the problem . Such as in this case your looking at five counts of pure stupidity. 1st: Racing with people in the car. 2,3and4: Riding with someone and letting them race on a busy street. 5: Not paying attention and pulling out in front of someone or the other possibility pulling out in front of some one racing because your in a truck and think they should wait on you.
