I'm sorry, I'm sure this question has been answered multiple times before, but I couldn't find it. What exactly is the difference between a B&G Stage 2 ECU/PCM and SCT tune? Can you do both, or is it one-or-the-other? What are the benifits/drawbacks of both?

Thanks,

Michael

The B&G and DC Performance is a stock type computer with a special tune loaded into it. You have to swap out the computer mounted on the firewall. The SCT is a handheld programmer with I think 3 tunes loaded into it and you can load which one you want into your stock computer by plugging it into the diagnostic port under the dash.

With the B&G/DC computer once you have it mounted, it is what it is. To make a change you have to send it back to them. The SCT you can send your programmer dyno info and he can email you a new tune to load into the SCT and then into your truck.

Yep, that would be the answer

The SCT is better only that you can update your tune by email anytime...like said before you dont have to send the PCM off to be flashed..you flash it yourself..

Sound like a pretty big advantage!

You will really be happy with the SCT tuner, see Stinker he is hooked up with a very good tuner for these.

Is the SCT supposed to come with another wire with a usb port input?

All I got with my SCT was the SCT itself, a paper saying what tunes it had, and a SCT emblem. No adapter to plug the sct into the computer.

That would have come with the racer pack or whatever they call it. The one where you are buying the software to be able to modify and tune yourself. Without the software there is no reason to hook it to your computer as SCT still does not have the capability to data log with our trucks.
