okay, not the type for the roads I must admitt :p
My brothers boat was finished one day before the famous "diamond race" last week so not enough time to rotate the engine.
He will be particiating in the races this week for the European championships in Ramsgate UK. Action footage will follow if someones interested.

Lot of pics of last race in Belgium can be found on http://www.rib-rally.be/diamond08/ ....:congrats:

Wow! That's sweet!!!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the foot pedal for? I see a hand throttle on the right console, so I was wondering what the pedal was for.

That engine looks so nice!! And CLEAN!!!!!

I'm not an expert here to be very very honest but I was told it's a safety issue for racing boats. In case the driver is ejected from his seat (no safetybelt in a boat) the throttle is released automaticly which is not the case with a hand throttle. They also have a "kill switch" for each engine connected to their lifesaver of course.

throttle on the right are to open and load the water ballast tanks for more stability on rough water .... like during the diamond race. As an average, F1 boats have a 80 gallon water tank and 120 gallon fuel tank...

F1 skier has to hold on for 50 minutes straight.... still sounds like fun to you Jeff ?:D

small update guys... the ILMOR is out. After doing some races with it we found out the NA engine sucks at take off. Not enough torque at take off, this is where the race can be won/lost as the skier has the benefit of taking a lead due to the flat water.

So my brother decided to upgrade to an V8 Mercruiser twin blower. Should get him plenty of power (+1000BHP) and torque

They are installing the engine as we speak. Not a day too soon cause the World's are coming up
