Checking in the Dictionary of marks by Koval and other dictionaries I have. The closest mark shown is from the Ginori, Italy factory of Capo-di-Monte. However, the crown has more detail in the reference book. Check your library, or antique mall and they should have up to date publications. Your mark is shown one place as questionable but the authenticity of the piece or mark can't be verified. There are a lot of "reprodutions" of Capo out there. I would have an insurance appraisal done by a reputable dealer.

Ok Scotty so far I have been spot on. The piece was definitely made in Naples like I said. However in the 40's Capo Di Monte out sourced the painting to France, non was done on boxes that I could find only figurines. The Crown above N symbol in blue means it was made in the 20th century. Not an antique but still very collectible for the right collector. The blue clear mark is also a stamp....Early Capo was painted and crude....Yours is like perfect. So as I said you could prolly get $ 500.00 for it....The smaller snuff and jewelry boxes carry the greatest value and some sell as high as 10k or better..... I am sure your Grandma loved it and if I were you I would keep it for your kids as a keep sake. Like I said I am not an appraiser or an expert...There are alot of knock off pieces when dealing with Capo...Differance with yours is you have that brown stamp with the Manu date and it means it's authentic......I hope this helped you a little

Most of your antique purists say 100 yrs or better in regards to porcelain staffiture and glassware. However costume jewelry for instance is considered antique much sooner. Most consider Art Deco antique :dontknow: from the 50's.......I happen to like stuff much olderntw0rk said:

I studied under Archaeologist and friend Kelly Murphy for 6 years. I have mapped the whole Snake River region for Glyphs. Helped spearhead 2 digs with Kelly and some people from BLM. Been to digs in 3 states :rock: I donated the vast majority of my personal finds to a museum and some to colleges.
