I can't wait for you to get er done!! I want to see it :D I don't know of anyone on here with roll bars but I think we need em

im not aware of anyone with those, but why would you need them for haulin ass in a straight line? unless you run 11s in my state you don't need a cage at the track.

I say it could still roll if you screw up for any reason straight line or not?? - Get er done and post up some pics

When I go and look at my pro-mod diesel race truck that's being built, I will discuss with my chassis builder a safe, clean looking bar, I have ideas on non obtrusive sidebars that flow with the profile of the seats....

I would like them to be installed without "ruining" the cab. I know I ask alot, but I am a "stock" lover - so is there any possible way they could go in and then come out later without jacking it up permanently? :dontknow: - I can ask dumb questions, cuz I am a girl :p

11.50 is the NHRA requirement....

I was more or less thinking about a bar of sorts while eyeballin the speedo at 140 on a un-named to protect the innocent(LOL) highway........:D

I have seen some nice ones on lightings. The really neat ones go back to the middle of the bed, through plexi rear windows.

I would love to see someone do this! :burnout:

Sure. I've seen bars bolted and backplated to floorpans? -cept your drilling holes then.......:dontknow:

The real nice ones fit tight to the inside of the body and those are the ones that are not sticking out like a sore thumb.........

Is it sturdy enough fastening to the floorpan or is that SOP? For some reason I was thinking more like the frame but then again, I'm thinking and that's scary!!:D :burnout:

I may be able to live with a couple holes - :D Thanks

That's another reason for the backplates, and it uses the floor for spread out support. Better than no bar though.

Here you go....

Do you mean like this? Trivia question.... Does anyone know the significance of this truck? There are three safety devices installed. Two are obvious 1) Harness 2) roll bar can you find the third?

what do the harnesses attach to? I want to do those rather badly!! Where did you get the harnesses and any specifics you could supply would be appreciated. Wheres the roll bar?

I made something that attaches to the seat bolts to secure a fire extinguisher for the passenger side.

Edit: I see the roll bar...who made it...I want one :)

That is the truck that snatched the WORLD RECORD. :) :burnout:

We have a winner! Yep, this is the truck Dodge built to set/break the speed record. I met the engineer who's team was responsible for this truck and the early preproduction units. He gave me these pix plus lots of other tidbits, blowups, drawings etc they had left over.

As for the truck he stated it was completely stock including leaving the mirrors in place when they did the speed run. For safety reasons his team built the roll bar, installed the harnesses and for additional safety the harnesses are bolted to the cab behind the seats. Look closely and you'll see how its done.

Do you know where that truck is now...museum at Chrysler?

I just noticed no oil temp gauge on the pillar.

Dave....don't know where the truck is now but I'm certain someone at Chysler put it in a safe place. He stated that one of the first preproduction SRT's his team built was completely smashed just days after completion. Seems one of the electrical engineer's on staff got drunk while watching a hockey game and decided to take the truck home with him. He was terminated before he was even out of jail the next morning. Team wasn't too happy about the whole thing as Dodge really came down on his team over the whole thing.

After building preproduction SRT's for Dodge the next project was to build a handful of SRT's for the Craftsman Series events. Dodge used them to show the possibility of what Dodge could do. Below are some pix. Can you see anything unusual about these SRT's? Yep, all with automatic transmissions in these regular cabs. Dodge ordered auto's as most who would driving these preproduction units would be celebrities and others who couldn't drive manuals. Apparently, these trucks were severely abused by the union workers at the race facilities. After every event the trucks needed new tires. He was a little pissed as the union workers would just sit and do burnouts after the events.

Other info....his team built the first equal length headers which he estimated cost about $10K in development costs. They were also working/building 6.1L Hemi Dakota's. Fortunately Dodge killed the program as he said the Dakota would have smoked our SRT's. When I asked him about production problems with our SRT's he said the Connor Ave assembly plant where our engines were built was full of people who just didn't care. Quality control was terrible. He stated engine balance was way off on many engines they tore down. Often, rebalance would gather another 50hp alone. He had nothing but great things to say about Arrow Racing Engines. These are the guys who Dodge sends problem engines to for fixing. He stated Arrow knows their stuff and really care about quality.

Anyways.....here's some pix
