any one know alot about subs ?

i would diffently put JL audio in it. the subs are a little more expinsive but you wouldn't have to buy a very big amp. they also don;t require very much space, which is perfect for under the seat. i have 2 12 inch JL's in my other pickup and i love them. they too are under the seat.

I have a total overhaul of the factory setup. I'm running a Panasonic head with a 4 channel soundstream Van Gogh amp running Viper separates w/crossovers plus I had a separate 400 x 2 watt amp powering a JBL 10" 1,200 watt sub. I recently blew the amp (defective) and now am switching to two 8" SKS Bazooka Tubes once my amp comes back from the factory. My old sub was mounted between the seats so the center arm rest couldn’t be moved up eliminating the "bitch” seat. I just switched to the Bazooka tubes so they fit nicely behind the seats. A pair of 8" tubes will blow your mind. They seem to not be that popular but I think they are way underestimated. I'm awaiting the return of my amp, its still getting fixed. I had a single 10" tube in my 79 Camaro and it sounded perfect. I listen to rock and the bass was loud, hard and very responsive. The round enclosure flexes nill causing very tight and loud bass. Give them a listen if you get a chance. I have a RC so one 8" tube is plenty, 2 is better. My 0.02!!

They go under the water and are filled with Seamen? :dontknow:

I'm sorry. I had seen this thread before and resisted. Tonight I just couldn't resist. :p :D

I bet that positively HURTS in a RC...

Yeah there a very noticable hard hitting kick on every bass note.

HiFonics was IT back 15 years ago. I dunno if Pyramid bought HiFonics but the amps are still awesome. AutoTek was another high end brand name amplifier that closely rivaled HiFonics back then. I believe Maxxonics is affiliated with both (and Crunch). But Radio Shack? I never seen HiFonics products sold there. That's crazy.:dontknow:

There was a lot of good shit about 15 years ago... HiFonics was one of them. Also Lanzaar, MTX, Syntec, and McIntosh.

OOOOH YESSS MTX.. Then there was Orion, Punch, Linear Power, AUDIO CONTROL and Phoenix Gold... But ALWAYS for me was ///ALPINE (and still is).

Yep! .... Precision Power was Da BOMB too. :D

I always loved Orion,, still do. It's just that all there stuff is retardedly powered, all SPL and no Sound Quality (SQL). I Bought a couple of 10's and 2 HCCA amps when they first came out,, it blew apart my first car!!

As for SQL i'm a Focal fanboy. The clarity is just amazing, you can hear tones and notes you've never heard before. They have the best Midrange hands down,, the Treble can seem "tingy" as it's very sharp. Their bass is also good, but again it doesn't have the "punch" that a lot of other subs do.

Honestly i would suggest replacing the Front door speakers with a better set, the rear's are definatly good enough to keep. As for the sub, two 10' subs would be more then anyone needs, i'd go with a Kicker 10's or JL Audio 10'W3v3 subs. Both are a very tight sub and wont need any space at all! A nice 800 Watt amp should do fine,, Orion makes a very nice Class D mono block amps that will murder the Kicker or JL subs. http://www.orioncaraudio.com/amps/Dmono.asp -- HCCA-D1200 is what you'll need, or you can step up to the next model.

Just to let you know Orion will only say that their amps are "1 0hm Safe load impedance" but i've taken my Orion amp to 1/2 Ohm and talking with my installer he's had one as low as 1/25 Load impedance!!!!! Just nasty.

Hope this helps
Shane

To be honest... I completely forgot about Orion. Their stuff  for sure... I think Directed (DEI) bought them out a few years ago. :dontknow:

I like the new small Alpine amps. 1000 watt amp is only about 8 inches long and a couple inches thick. Very nice amps but expensive (1200$) i think

Eveything from ////ALPINE is expensive. I just picked up their BlackBird and newly released DOK1 so that I can incorporate NAV into my ////ALPINE head unit touch screen. The Blackbird choice is the cheapest way to put NAV back into your ////ALPINE system, plus it's alo an MP3 player with interchageable memory/storage cards measured into Giga Bytes...
