Sure would appreciate any tips, or recommendations for my upgrade to the Bassani shorts headers, Hi-flow cats mids, magniflow exhaust sytems. Is it O.K. to use stainless for header bolts on install? If so, does anyone know bolt size and thread, or I'll ask my local Dodge guy. Will it run O.K. without a Flash right away. Like to wait till after the T.B. for that upgrade.

Like to Thank Justin at JMB for getting this deal together and on the way for me.

Any thoughts, ideas, or experiances would be appreciated.

Thanks Jim

I would stay away from the stainless with aluminum heads. Stage 8 makes a good locking bolt that is nickel plated. Summit Racing carries them, somewhere in the $60 - $65 range I think.

i'm sure it will tell ya to reset the puter. i unplug the 3 plugs at the ECM to reset mine. it will have to relearn with the new stuff. stage 8 would be neat or just retorque what they send ya a couple of times will work also. i used some copper antiseize on my bolts.
oh and the stock flange bolts can be a "challenge" to get apart. might try soakin them in some good penetratin oil for 2 or 3 days. lol

order new gaskets from dodge. not sure what bassani gives you for gaskest.

You definitely do not want to use the Bassani gaskets, they will leak. Get new stockers. Also, removing the wheel well liners is the way to go. That will make the job alot easier.

:dito: .....they will not work.......use new stock gaskets...I found this out the hard way..:( ...........If you get a CEL it will probably be due to the hiflow cats.....try tying the downstream (after cat) sensors to the frame...yes, let them hang out in the fresh air.....plug up the holes in the mids..

here is my tip, after install is complete, parade it around the nbrhd as loud as possible, then go door to door to ask all neighbors how it sounded...lol

Thanks to all

spray WD40 on the 6 bolts/clips holding the OEM mids to the headers and let them sit for at least 30 mins , then hit it with an air wrench , they went off right away . This is important as some have spent hours screwing with these .

Grade eight bolts are fine but not necessary in an aluminum block. Unless the bolt manufacturer says they are nickel plated I would guess they could be zinc plated. Stainless can be a pain in the ass. I've learned that on out drives on boats. Although you wouldn't use anything else on a boat.
As for penetrating oil -- Used crank case oil from a diesel engine is the best I have ever used. Put it on at least a day in advance. WD40 is a really doesn't work good as a penetrating oil.
Copper anti seize -- On aluminum applications? I have learned that aluminum anti seize works best. Copper causes more electrolysis when used on aluminum
On another note. Toque specifications are usually dry (no oil on threads or bolt). Unless specified by the manufacturer.
I am not book smart. I have learned by experience. I might not make it work but I know a thousand ways that don't work. bobby mac AKA the rambler

Like others have said. Soak the crap out of the bolts on the collectors. Very important!!!! They are a pain. The passenger side for me was the worst. Top bolt is hard to reach and I could not get anything to stay on it. The POS clips that hold the square nuts on break real easy and then twist around and get in the way of a wrench or vise grips. I was able to get a 17mm wrench to hold the others after peeling away the metal clip with a thin screwdriver and then used an air wrench to back off the bolts. The last one on the passenger side I couldn't do that and used a Sawz-All and air chisel to break off the nut after running out if ideas and patience. Not fun.
