Was thinking about painting my whole truck. Im getting estimates all over the fkin place anywhere from 3000 to 10000 dollars and I really dont know what to do? Anyone honest and knowledgeable would really help right about now.

What i wanted:
Make my black truck either silver with black racing stripes or blue with white racing stripes.

My srt badging on the door/ tailgate painted in the stripe color on those items and the viper power on the hood also painted on the hood.

Finally a nice clear coat on top and im done, of course this doesnt include old paint removal and prep on a few really small ding spots.

any advice or help would be great to help me make a possible plan here.

what part of the country are you from that was we can narrow it down to a member near your area.

It really depends on how nice a job you want done . . .

It really helps that the truck starts life as a black truck, you can get away with NOT painting the engine bay. However, the back of the cab, front of the bed, inside the bed and all door jambs will need painted the new color. (if you choose to change colors)

$10k isn't out of line for a nice quality color change.
$3k is about right to keep it black but redo it.

Oh i know that $ = nice but theres still got to be a round about number where things make sense ya know. I love my black but as far as keeping it clean and chips ect its killing me, plus my door jamb on the passenger side needs a re-paint i had to break in my truck once when i locked the keys in :( and the bed well its gonna eventually get either a beg rug or that bedliner so the inside is of not great concern to me.

i had my trans am done about 5 years ago and paid 3000. thta included changing the color and painted on stripes.

there is a lot of work involved when you cahnge the color. everything has to come apart to do it right. if you want the other stripes and graphics done now is the time and have them all painted on under the clear coat. it will look so much better that way. i would say 5-6k would be for someone that really knows their stuff and does a great job. the 3k range i would really have to see their work first. but 10k seems out of touch. paint is expensive, but most of the $$$ is labor. hope this helps some. def. post pics when it is done.

I will if I ever get it done, ive been looking for almost 5 months now and if i had hair would have pulled it out by now:D

5k is plenty of cash for a excellent full color change.. that will include all repairs.. and all surfaces... they should take the color to the unnderside of the hood.. and the sides of the engine bay and make it nice and clean so when it switches to the black it looks factory.. this will get inbetween the box .. door jams, moldings removed from all glass. and sprayed under behind the hedlights so its not noticable...... 10k will get you a show quality where you will not want to drive the truck... ie 15 layers of clear coat and 20hrs of color sanding etc.......

It was well over 3k just to paint the flames on my truck. That included several coats of clear

damn painting is high in yalls next of the woods. i paid 7k for the paint job on my 73 challenger, thats going all the way down to the metal. i imagine 5 to 6k for a excellent paint job around here would be high dollar. my pops had a 4 door jeep painted to match his motor home for 4500.00 thats taking everything off so it looked like it was factory.

Well if it makes any difference yours is one of the trucks on here that im trying to paint it like lol:rock: that is if or when i find a place and price.

what im getting from all this is it should be around 6000 all together guys? Right?:dontknow:

all they painted on mine was the top of the hood the roof, the wing and the tailgate them cleared over those parts. didnt have to paint the whole truck. might save you some change unless your changing all the colors

wont save me no change, mines black currently and well im tried of seeing everything on, in and around my paint. Silver i hear is the way to go. No more swirls and easily seen problems plus well silver with black stripes looks bad as fk. Now all i gotta do is just steal that sweet brake lite idea and ill match lol:D

Start by putting the wing back on...

Sorry for not returning your call Mike...getting old and just plain forgetful.

I will call you with a couple of ideas this weekend.

No problem Roy, hows the build up going? And you know I was considering it after I put the paxton on. I was thinking to have it installed into my tonneau cover.
