Does anybody make a factory replacement rod that has the same pin height and doesn't require turning down the crank?

george do some pistons, rods and we can add a little wet NOS shot and you'll be flyyyyin!!! I've always wanted to see how a ROE blower reacted to nitrous!

Thanks. I spoke to Eagle on Tuesday and they said they are out of stock and will not know if they will put them into production till the end of January. If the do produce them, they will be around $1000.00 to $1200.00. Anybody else know of any other manufacturer that would have them for sure?

Chad, thats certainly a possibility but when I'm done, I think it will have all the power I'll ever need.

did you speak with eagle directly? If so then that means only the manufacture is out of stock.

alot of times you can call , jegs, summit, other internet sellers, or check a couple engine builders that might have them in stock, or warehoused back.

You may check with oliver rods also, but a super set of rods at a decent price is the crower, they will run you around 1900 or better, maybe a tad more maybe a tad less, just cant remember

Crower steel rods run 1789.00 in any configuration you want. Takes about 6 weeks to build a set as they are all custom made to order.

Crower rods are top of the line in the same league as Dyers Top Rods.

From what I understand there are no Eagle rods available in stock configuration at this time.

Now if you want to get a little spendy you can go for the Crower Titanium rods, about 6000.00 a set of 10.

Jack has put me in touch with Crower. Talk to me if you want a set made too. Stock length.

Right on Dave. The deal that I got you, is through me at Crower.
I have a lot of friends at Crower (38+ years).
I will help anybody get a deal there if they want, but it has to be set it up in advance through me, or you will pay much more.

Bone & FSTJACK, are these direct replacements or does the crank have to be turned down? Can you PM me with prices? Is the price previously posted what you can get them for?

Thanks Stinker. I will contact Summit & Jegs to see what they say.

Oliver also makes stock replacements for around the same price as the Crowers. Plan on waiting for them, just like most other engine parts for a viper.

I have beat my head against the wall hunting for stock length rods in stock somewhere....just forget it George....either order one of the above mentioned rods and wait or turn the crank.....been there done that...;)

Hey bo , spoke with Jack on this for ya, the rods are 1790ish without shipping
takes about 6 weeks to build, your crank will not need turning unless it needs turning, but at least have it checked for trueness and it is suggest to have it radius ground and nitrided, which runs appriximatly $300 on the outside, but may save you money down the road.
Pm Jack with questions.

And have everything balanced.

Thanks guys. I think I have enough information to make a decision. My next question is who do you recommend that does the crank work and balancing?

Check around your area, I am not famaliar with the South East. There shoul be a good machine shop that can do the crank work in FL.

Ohio Crankshaft is good but not close to you. But Fedex delivers everywhere.

We have a shop in GA that can do the balancing of crank, pistons and rods.

george....PM mickey i think he has a local contact for that type of stuff!! looking forward to your build so I can see what it takes.....i am thinking pistons, rods and JMB's single turbo kit down the road!

Another option on rods is:

Phil
Tech & Sales Dept.
IPP/Flatlander Racing
(603) 378-0090

They will be 10 Pauter billet rods as we have discussed,$1899
He has one of my stock rods for measurements. I have contacted several shops. I narrowed it down to Pauter, Crower and Oliver as my choices. Eagle may be a cost effective solution to these three however.

Let me go back and look for my Oliver connection. [email protected]
the ultra lite is a lighter 4340steel rod. they are rated for 800 h.p. @ 7500 rpm. this rods is out of stock (6wks)
the h.d. rods are for the high boost motors. this rod is for the 1000 + h.p. motors.
all oliver rods come standard with arp (wsb) bolts. a bolt upgrade is available.
However, their specs are 6.250 length, & .927 wrist pin. I measured my rod length to be slightly longer. You would have to modify the piston (shave) or crank right now.

Plus, a plug for Roe Racing. They are making a two sets of Rods and Pistons, Oliver and Diamond combination for one of their installers. Dave may be able to order more sets.

Since I have mentioned several shops, there is also Viper Specialty Performance
with Daniel Lesser who has posted on this forum before. He has a Piston/Rod combo:

FYI, Roe Racing is the only active forum vendor.

Thanks for all the info Bone. I spoke to Dave last week and he said that some rod vendors are putting together a package for them but it is still some time away.

I don't plan on tearing everything apart till after the first of the year. Hopefully Eagle will know by then when they will have them available. If not, I'll probably go with the Carillos.

Bone, do you know the horsepower rating of the Eagle rods? I'd like to have a 10 to 20 percent cushion and my goal is 1000 RWHP.

One more thing, in the link to Viper Specialty if you click on the pistons package only, it states that it is not recommended to go over a 1000 HP with the stock connecting rods. Is this what they are really rated at and does this statement refer to HP at the crank?

By the way, did Perk1405 dyno his truck after the head install?

Yeah, I would go with the Carrillos if I could afford them.

Eagles I am unsure about 1000 HP, then a pad ontop of that???

Should be at the crank, the loss (drivetrain, tranny, etc.) shouldn't be a player with the rods.

I haven't heard yet about Perk (Elliot) other than his first dyno before the install. Doesn't write back much. Who knows? He has mostly been on the other forum.

It has been a long and painful road to finding Piston Rods for the Viper. It's been at least four months for me searching, asking and sending off parts to various companies.
