Since we have the most odd sized din for out radio's I was wondering if anyone has seen a successful mod to double din fitment? Can it be done with all the metal behind the dash? You can find so many more double dins then single dins and they look a lot cleaner too....Let me know I m interested as I'm sure others are also...

Yep can be done. A couple of members have done it. No need to cut behind the dash (slight cuts in plastic only) The main thing is to cut the opening bigger and smaller (sides are too wide from factory) Once cut it must be 'glassed of bondo'd smooth and repainted. Not hard in capable hands.

So basically no metal cutting and it will work, but the factory din is a little wider so it will need to be filled on the sides and cut out top and bottom? May give me an excuse to do something custom to the console...

Yep. You got it. I have wanted to make a mold for some time but.........you know how things are. Just keeps gettin' pushed to the back of the list.

I would get that going. You'll have quite bit of interested people. The only other problem I see is how do you mount the double din in there? Get creative?

Backstrap. Looks like this. You just make your own angle brackets and screw into plastic behind the dash.

That may be the weekend project. Is that plastic behind the dash strong enough to hold the weight of double din?

yessssir....it might take a few days of planning and designing....I don't want it to look rigged so I'm gonna do it right....I will def post pics
