i am thinking of buying a new compact for my job.
my honda is at 225000 now and needs to be replaced.
the xfe gets 37epa mpg.
drives and rides nice by what i could tell.

why now? obama is giving me $4500 for my truck.
cant pass that up.

16K -2000 chevy cash -4500 obama cash = 9500

Have a couple of SS in the car club, nice......but no big deal to me

Well, my buddy has an '06 Saturn Ion Redline which is very very similar to the cobalt ss. That thing is a blast to ride/drive. I can't speak for the regular cobalts though. I'd spring the extra $$ for the turbo.

don't temp me, already thinking about it.
wonder why the turbo is so slow, 260hp you would expect it to be allmost as fast as the 10..
11.5 pounds per hp.... we have 10.

Well they may not be as fast as our 10s, but they really feel like you're zipping along since they're so low to the ground. The redlines have stage II upgrades and they have some good power mods on the cheap from what I've seen. And if you put a little money into a rear sway and strut tower brace, the thing handles like it's on rails.

yeah i don't see a reason with a manual boost controller you couldn't hit 300 easy, then a 75 shot of nos....
then it would have the same power to weight. and should in theory be as fast in the 1/4 as the truck..... but who cares.... LOL.... this is for my mpg and work use.

I used to work at a Dealership back in early 07. Sold a few Cobalts. They are a great daily driver if your lookin for something that gets good gas and is reliable. The rebates your talking about are really good as well. Im not a fan of the car but they are a comfortable ride and for how cheap they are I was impressed at what it had to offer. A good friend of mine had an SS and he hasnt had any problems. The Saturn Ion is comparable to the Cobalt with the Redline being the SS competition. Fun car to drive and good for a daily driver. Good luck with your search :)

I own a cobalt damn good lil car ,,its a 2008 has 17000 on it now with no problem but a gas cap that had to be replaces ,,,wifes ride ,,the 4 banger is quite peppy and at 75 miles an hour gets over 30 gallons per mile ,,,:D

Be careful banking on the full $4500 rebate. There are a lot of stipulations and red tape that go along with it. Just do your research to make sure you get the most you can. Your dealing with the Government. (Now you see it, now you don't BS).

we have a recruiter that puts 170k miles a year on a pontiac vibe, its butt ugly but she's on her 3rd one and all of them only had to have tires and brakes
