I am planning on buying the wife a new car and its a debate right now between a Escalade and a SRT-8 Jeep. Anyone have a Jeep and have any information on them? Whats the mileage like, leg room in the back, etc?

Well I don't have one but I am in the same boat. I am trying to get Kristee down to test drive one. The mileage can't be that much diff. from an escalade

My wifes 02 Escalade gets about 15 mpg city driving. It has the 6.0 and AWD.

I would love it if my wife would test drive a Jeep! :(

My 05 Escalade is getting 14-16 in city. 6.0L AWD. Can't beat the comfort. But the Jeep's are sweet as hell!

my girls srt8 jeep is getting 17 town 22 highway. only mods is a cold air and magnaflow cat-back

pm CentralTexasHemi or maybe he will chime in his DD is a SRT-8 Jeep and with intake and tune he ran a 12.56!

patrick has a SRT8 jeep...but cross shopping a GC8 & slade are 2 different things...do you want to cruise or do you want sport...jeeps have small back seats/
your going to get basically the same gas mileage

These are the exact questions I need to answer myself, that its why I am asking to get some ideas. I think I will lean towards to the Escalade, mod it a little with a Strut grille and some 24's. My brother does custom stereos so he can do some tv's and whatever else he wants to. More leg room in the back sounds good, especially for the long hauls.

But on the other hand a 12.56 1/4 sounds pretty appealing, but does the wife really need to go that fast?

I test drove one, they wanted $44,000 for the Jeep and they were gonna give me $18,000 for my Truck, and they would'nt Budge.

GC is a great ride, and it pulls like a mofo off the line...but there is no room in it. but then again if you dont have kids who cares.

With Chrysler sales at a negative 37% this month...you should be able to cut a great deal...

what about a denali! you get the same thing as a slade but you dont have to use premium gas! just put 22's on it!

Black book mileage on the 6.2L 403hp escalade is 26 mpg, so real world is maybe 20?

hahahhahahahhahahah not a chance in hell.. this is worse than out trucks on fuel... my buddie has one and the fuel bill is retarded .. its geared for the 1/4 mile big time .. if your on the highway they rev real real real high ... id say your lucky to see 15mgp on the highway

If your worried about the gas mileage DO NOT BUY the GC srt8
It is almost impossible not to put your foot into it.
Knowing that at every stoplight you can beat pretty much anything on the road to the next light (in any weather) is very addictive.

The facts -
Worse mileage than the 10 especially on the highway.
A little tight in the cabin (I'm 6 ft, 2bills)
the rear seats fold down very easily and you can stuff a surprising amount of in.
I drove one at the SRT experience and had to have one.
It is an all out blast to drive, great handling braking and with the 08 you get all the nice little goodies and a much improved interior.

I do mostly city driving and try to keep my foot out of it and get around 9 mpg.

The bottom line is I love this thing and do not regret buying it for a second.

Are you sure it's an SRT model? I get 10-11 around town and 15-18 on the highway.

But then again, I don't buy SRT vehicles for fuel economy.....:argh:

As far a leg room, the driver and passenger footwells are very roomy....the rear passengers.....well, that's another story......:D

A few pics of mine.....cause you mentioned STEREO........:D :D

the rims on that thing look awesome:rock:

The srt 8 jeep is a bad bi##h, 0 to 60 in high 4s low 5s in the rain, 420 ponies all wheel drive,I want one:rock:

Thanks. My friend and I painted them one weekend...then added the red pinstripe as a highlight and sealer for the edges of the black so it didn't peel.:slug:
