Anyone have KOI?

I am remodelling the pond out front and going to put KOI in it, the pond will bee about 2000 gallons when finished with a waterfall. Any ideas on filtration :dontknow:

I will give you an idea, use it if you can. Have flower bed near by? Build a sealed box for your flowers, run perferated pvc piping thru it, cover your plants and the pvc pipe with pea gravel. Hook your pump to feed the pvc pipe. The water will flood thru the flower bed and feed your plants with all the nitrogen from the water. the water that overflows from the sealed flower box will be clean and ready for the pond. Does this make since? :dontknow: Anyway this is the way I am going.

our pond has a 20 gallon barrel, with a course and fine media pads, and the rest is filled with plastic things (half a 12 ounce soda can) i'll take some pics for you. we also have a UV light, this thing is a MUST, we have alomost zero alge growth on this setup. i'll post some pics later if your interested
