been thinking about getting a radar system for the truck but have to find the money. my father in law has the escort in his f430 and his sl600 and its amazing. anyone have any radar in their truck or have a escort for sale?

Escort 8500 here... never had a ticket over 5 years.

The 9500 is nice, it has lots of "toys". But, the 8500 is cheaper and just as effective as a radar detector.

Ditto on the 8500 X50 BLUE. I have been stopped a couple times with mine only because I had my music turned up too high. :dontknow: I wasn't paying attention to the visual warning light.. ANYWAY.. Slow91 has a 9500. I think he really likes it.

I have two 8500's...one red in the truck (Woody's old unit) and one blue for the CTS V.

I have wanted to hard wire both...but I will lose the mute button on the plug, which is a negative for me...lots of Walgreens around here!

Maybe the 9500 will remember all of those false signals?

I have the 9500... Parents bought it for me when I bought the truck...lol... Very nice and it works AWESOME

The last thing my father bought me was pampers.

The 8500 is nice but the Valentine is the best. I currently have both. Before I got the valentine I would switch the 8500 back and forth between the two vehicles that I drive. The SRT and the chevy work van. In the Van I notice if I hit the horn it sets off the Laser warning on the 8500. This would drive me nuts. So I got the valentine. Compared to the 8500 it is allot better. More sensitive. It tells you if there are more than one LEO running radar. And tells you which direction.

Both the 8500 and the Valentine can have the "X" and the "K" bands turned off to eliminate those false alarms.

Now the 9500 is the same as the 8500 except it has GPS built in. This allows you to teach the detector where the the false alarms are by hitting the button on the detector to remember that spot and it will not go off thee again.

And just a FYI. Escort is coming out with a new detector called the "Redline". No real news on how good or bad it's suppose to be.

i like the valentine too. tells you where they are at. my brother has the 8500 and i just dont like it since i got the v-1 put one in the challenger too.

......

The 8500 tells you if there is more than one signal... :dontknow: It's always fun going by the Sheriff's gun range on the highway. :D Damn thing lights up like a Christmas Tree (I think it will register up to 8 different signals). :D

..... I just wish they would make the V-1 smaller.... it's the fkin size of a VW Beetle.

have you guys been to www.radarroy.com ? all he does is test radar detectors. he thought the 9500ci (hardwire not windshield) was better than valentine cuz it was quicker at pointing out the fuz.

Here is my V1 story that sets it apart from the escorts:

Was going down a road today and came up behind a yellow vette. He started to speed up and then my radar detector went off. He must of had a radar detector also because we both slowed down at the same time. My V1 showed that the the radar was coming from the front, and then I saw a cop come over the hill.

After the cop past us we both started to speed up until I look at the V1 and it still showed the radar coming from in front of us. I then slowed down and the vette just kept going. When we got over the hill there was a FHP (Florida hwy patrol) sitting on the side of the road with his radar on. Needless to say I think the vette did not have a V1 and just thought the radar was coming from behind him after the first cop past us.

I watched the FHP pull over the vette guy. He looked pi$$ off at me as I past him.

I love the V1 and the arrows on it . If I had any other radar detector I would have been pulled over today.

8500 X50 Blue in the Jeep.

9500ix in the VW. I like the 9500 waaaay more because it has GPS so I can program it to "remember" all the areas I travel that have falses and also speed traps. It lets you know with a verbal female voice;) up to one mile before your programmed speed traps and then if you keep an eye on the display, it counts down every 100ft until you've reached your "marked location".

One other really nice feature of the 9500 it it blasts for a few seconds to get your attention then it "auto-mutes" but still "clicks" to let you know the popo is still around but doesn't go to full silent til you hit the mute button on the power cord.:slug:

You can hard wire it and still keep the mute feature. I hard wired my V1 and ran the mute button under the carpet and up the front of my shifter handle and mounted it just under the ball just far enough away that I'm not bumping it all the time but can reach it easily. That way the mute is always just under my right hand. You can do the same with the Escort with a kit like this:

yeah mine is hardwired comes on with the truck goes off with the truck. only way to have it. plus mute button is right by steering column for easy un noticeable muting :)

Too kewl!

Killer solution...how come I didn't know that?

Mucho Grass!

I am confused (not an unusual circumstance), but hardwiring just means you don't have to have it plugged into the cigarette lighter right? My mute button is on the actual radar detector, is the escort on the cigarette lighter part?
