Anyone thinking about skinnies up front?

It would be cool if someone could come up with a smaller, lighter wheel/tire combo for the fronts at the track.

Has anyone here looked into this and found some options?

I have thought about it only.
Did not know how I would turn the truck with skinnies on. It would look bada$$ however.

Fstjack is against skinnies on our trucks. To dangerous.

Perhaps "skinnies" is something of a misnomer in the way I mean. My primary interest is just a lighter and somewhat more narrow wheel/tire up front to reduce weight and rolling resistance.

If you have to turn in the span of a quarter mile, you did something wrong.:D

Honestly, so long as the wheels up front can carry the weight, there should be no problem. Granted, you couldn't or wouldn't (based on their reduced weight rating) run what most of us refer to as "skinnies", but you get the idea of what I'm after.

it has been done on here....zexsrt10 had a custom set made for the fronts.... i think they were 19's to clear the calipers. maybe they were bogarts? not cheap though!

What about a set of 20"s of a regular ram? should be less weight:dontknow:
I am not sure about Eric's concern with saving money at this point:D

You could always go the route Tinygiants has done with his rear wheels, but instaead of adding a section to widen, just remove a section to narrow them up?
Just an idea??

I just decided to make my fronts look skinny :) But they are on 20's. One of these days I will buy a scale and weigh them to see what the weight difference is.

Yeah, I think I passed "saving money" about the time I pulled piston #3 out in pieces.:p

Fastjack said Bogarts won't be doing those wheels again any time soon. I guess they were a real PITA. I suppose about any 20x9 lightweight wheel would do in a pinch.

I posted up some interest in the past about saving weight up front especially in the area of brakes. The 04's are such iron bricks. Tires can weigh differently as well. I know Avon tires weigh 10 pounds more than Generals or the stock tires. Good luck!

Eric,
In all seriousness, the wheels I ordered are from american racing. They make a stock one that is 20 X 8. They also make a 15" variety, so you can match them.
It is my intention to eventually order a 15 X 10 and have them cut and widened just like my 20" versions. Then I can have a true slick mounted to match.

Bogart will make as many 15" 16" & 17" wheels as you want.....

He will not make any more 18"s, he made 6 18" wheels total and I have 4 of them & I won't part with them.

Here is a pic of the 18x7 3/8 wheels he made for me for the front, running 255x55x18 BFG KDW2.

Why won't he make any more 18's? I sure would like to get a set.
