I took the bottom leaf spring out(the short, fat one). Dropped the truck about 1/2 inch maybe closer to an inch.

That leaf spring is actually your traction bar, and taking it out should have raised the rear, not lowered it, unless yours is different from my 2005 RC.

i have an 05 QC. it actually lowered it. and took off about 15 lbs. each.

Mine was lowered when I bought it. Gonna put her a little higher again. Maybe ex-owner removed a spring too on mine.
Q: how many leafs did you have (stock) ?

no hopping. laid down two pretty streaks yesterday. i hit this one spot on the road on my way to work every day and my truck always bump steers, bad. well this morning it wasn't bad at all. could have been my speed. i'll try it when i go home that way.

EMT I'm very interested in what you find!

If this works I'll remove my last leaf and install 2" lowering shackle and cut the coil springs!

MaN i hope this works!

everybody with caltracs has took there bottom leaf spring off. and I think mine weighed more than 15 pds, at least felt like they did.

o man i mite try this, was it hard 2 take it out and then get every thing back together?

it was pretty simple. i put my truck on a swing arm lift (my dad owns a tire shop) and put a jack under the rear end to relieve pressure off the shocks while the rear end hangs. i did one side of a time. 4 nuts off the u-bolts and there is a nut holding all the springs together. 1 hour maybe hour and a half tops.

Checked my lowered truck (2/4) and it got still 4 leaves. Should not be problem to lift the rear again right?

EMT I'm about to do this and was wondering how this is working for you? Is it riding better? Whats the word!?!

This is an overload leaf. Almost all trucks have them. Unless you carry heavy loads it should not hurt anything to remove it.
